RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council, by Motion, approve recognitions to be delivered at a later date.

DISCUSSION: At various times throughout the year, the City Council recognizes outstanding individuals, groups, and organizations for their extraordinary achievements and/or contributions to the Anaheim community. Council has the discretion to issue Proclamations, Declarations, and Certificates of Recognition to these deserving parties.


The following has been recommended to receive a Proclamation or Certificate of Recognition:

Proclamation: Recognizing Disneyland First Generation Cast Members 1955- 1980. (Requested by Mayor Harry Sidhu)



IMPACT ON BUDGET: There is no budgetary impact.

Interesting! Disneyland has solidified itself as a cultural institution with worldwide appeal, and is a huge reason why Anaheim is what it is.

Giving Cast Members who helped work to give Disneyland/Anaheim that kind of reputation- especially those from the early years- would be a neat gesture.

And I have to think that stuff like this only works to further strengthen the relationship between Anaheim and Disney.
