Info on Photopass

Hi! We are going to Disney for the first time in two weeks and I'm wondering if someone can point me in the direction of where I can get info about photopass. Unfortunately, it's going to be a short trip since we are really going for a wedding. My daughter is only 16 months old and I could only get two days out of the hubby. I would love to get photos done while we are there though. I would like to find out the cost. Thanks so much!

I would suggest visiting the official PhotoPass site: https://mydisneyphotopass.disney.go.com/

You'll need to login to your My Disney Experience account to view everything, since PhotoPass is now linked to your MDE/MM+ account and Magic Bands.

You may find that it's not worth the price for only 2 days in the parks. If you take your own camera, most PhotoPass photographers will be kind enough to snap a couple photos using it (if they don't have a line).

I completely agree with Tom, 2 days is not enough to spend $100^ on pictures, you may not get your money's worth. We went one week last Christmas and we had over 400 pictures, but i was hunting down photographers at every park to get my $$$ worth, not the best way to spend your vacation.

We did 5 days and had more than enough pictures...around 500 or so, but we had prepurchased our photopass and let the photographers know that, so they took extras and gave us several magic poses too.

Yeah I have to agree you wont get too many pictures especially if your daughter naps often.

What if your group splits up? Do they scan your magic bands and then all photos get added to the one account? Or do they give you one photopass card for your trip?

with regular photopass, you can get more than one card, then add them all to the same account online.
with photopass+, you only get one pp+ card, which mean, you can add a regular card to the same account, but the "special" shots/photos (certain character meals and rides) cannot be put on a "regular" card.
with magicband, I have no idea how it works, however, sorry!

Just to clarify, Photopass is the service itself. They have photographers throughout the parks to take pictures. You can then buy the pictures at the parks, or at home online. Simply walk up to the photographer, they will take your picture and load the pics onto a Magic band or PP card. You don't need to buy the pictures, you can buy 1, buy a dozen, or make assorted products like Mugs and Mousepads through their website. If you go to claim the pictures online, the Magic band pictures get automatically loaded to your account. Any magic band associated with your reservation will get their pictures loaded. You can also add additional Magic band by typing in the 12 digit code found on the band. If you don't have bands, you can add as many PP cards as you want to your account by entering the number found on those.

Two popular products are the Photopass Archive CD (Used to be the PhotoCD) and Photopass+. The Archive CD includes a digital copy of every picture in your Photopass account online. So any from Magic bands, any from PP cards, etc that you have added along with any edits you do will be on the CD. Photopass+ includes the Archive CD, and a special PP+ card that you can use to claim your dining and attraction photos.

Some people are reporting being able to claim dining pictures with normal PP cards recently, this happened about the same time they stopped giving the physical prints at dining locations with a PP+ card. So now the real differentiation seems to be the attraction photos. This may change in the future once they roll out "Magical Memories", reported to be video clips, but the timeline on that is unknown.

For a 2 day trip buying the Archive CD or PP+ seems a bit much. But as mentioned, they will take pictures with your camera, and you can buy single copies through Photopass of the ones they took if you want.

we just had a horrible experience with PP. We heavily relied on the service to take our family pictures. At the end of the trip we purchased the CD and found that many pictures were missing - including magic shots, special poses and entire meet and greets. After several phone calls and emails, they finally got back to me saying that I need to tell them exactly what time and place the missing pictures were taken. Also who was in the picture and what they were wearing in the picture. A LOT of extra work for me. I'm still fuming.

For your case, also consider that you need to pose for the magic shots - we had our 17 month old who barely stood still let alone pose for the magic shots.

My advice to use is to get the card when you're there, but don't rely heavily on it - every picture they take, also take with your camera. At the end of your trip, you're able to review everything on the card - if it's worth the $180 dollars, then get it. If not, at least you have your own pictures. Also, they sell individual prints as well - so if there's say a few pictures that you absolutely LOVE, you can separately get the prints

Have fun on your trip!!!

This is what we do - and we rarely order any of the PP pics and have never gotten the CD.

As of 2 weeks ago - the magic bands weren't linked up to the photo pass - are they now?

Reportedly they started accepting them shortly after the new Photopass site went live, but yes the new site explcitly contains verbage about using MB with PP. Some people are reporting using both MB and PP card at the same time. Correspondingly, some photos are showing up on the old site and not the new and vice versa.
