I saw this posted on another site this morning:

'Another area of the pavilion celebrates the Avatar project at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Once guests go through a separate entrance, they encounter representatives from an Eco-Tour company, which has partnered with Disney's Animal Kingdom to bring people to the distant world of Pandora, home to the Na'vi, an indigenous people that have a deep connection to the natural world. Eco-Tour guides are there to show models. images and exhibits of what visitors to Pandora will find on their future visit.'

'The conceit of the area: Disney's Animal Kingdom is working with a new tour company to get you to Pandora...but there is no word as to whether this concept will actually be used in the park itself or if its just for the D23 exhibit. It certainly does sound like something that would eventually be used for the park itself with the tour company being similar to Chrono-Tech and the time rovers over at the Dino Institute.'

'Often the entrance to a land is a gateway of some type and here it might be the headquarters or office of this eco-tour company who is sending you to this land.'

It will be interesting to see if any of this is used in DAK itself as part of the expansion. I know that early on, there was speculation (from a theming standpoint) as to how one would travel to Pandora, or if looked at another way, how a Pandoran ecosystem could exist here because of the different atmosphere of the Pandoran moon.

I tend to think that there is way too much overthinking with this part of the expansion. I am not one to say that there needs to be some 'portal' or space travel device that whisks people off to Pandora. Just my opinion though, as I know that theme is the ultimate measuring stick for some people and there has to be some type of coherent or feasible explanation as to how park guests move in and out of the Pandora section of the park.

I like the idea of a portal. A constricted space to walk through, as you do when you go
under the train tracks and Main Street USA is revealed to you. It's part of the overall
cinematic approach to transitions between lands that Walt and the original Imagineers
pioneered. I think coming through a covered space to reveal the land would be a spectacular
entrance.

There's something of a back entrance to CarsLand in DCA as well, where one side is the Pacific Wharf,
you enter under a rock arch. It's a great transition and a wow moment.

Hope they do this.

this allows them to separate this part of the park.
