Indy Secret Restroom

I need to find this out, I am so interested in this. Years ago, on MiceChat, a user posted about seeing on Disney Tourist Blog (I also read that site) says one of Indiana Jones Adventure's best secrets is the "secret" restroom, it is apparently behind the elevators, used for cast members and for guests use in emergencies. Some users commented and said they have used it, and someone said that someone (a user on the site) should get a picture of the said bathroom. I'm trying to picture though where it is located. Even when visiting DL in the past, I don't ever remember seeing the restrooms but remember seeing the elevator and the loading station a little behind it in the rocks on the top floor. Is it on the lower floor at the loading area? There are no pictures online of it when searching on Google.
Does anyone have a picture or if it can be seen in any videos? Please, this has been a huge mystery to me and I want to see proof lmao

It looks like it’s not only behind the elevator, but you have to pass through it as well. It’s a tight space.

Doubt there are any pictures online, but it probably looks like any other backstage area. Check out Pirates evac videos where they take guests through the New Orleans basement.

I think the only way you’ll ever get proof is if you stage a bladder emergency yourself sometime!
Yes, I read on the other forum that it might actually be down a hallway.

Well, I'm not going back to CA for a while till then to stage that scenario.

I know it's not a huge deal and it probably does look just like you described, but I just am fascinated by this secret and how there is no picture or video of the actual proof in real life.

This is the point where the exit from the vehicles is to the left and ADA people can go through to get to the elevator you see on the left. Normal crowd goes up the stairs and crosses over the track to the area between the track split. I believe (at least according to those blueprints) that the bathrooms would be down that hall we see between the elevator and the stairs.

As we were reminded in the other Indy thread, Fastpass came along in 1999 and cut down the time guests are in the indoor queue and show building, thus mostly eliminating the need for restrooms after a 3 hour wait inside the building. Now most of the standby wait is outdoors before you enter the temple, so leaving the line to use the AL restroom is easier. Since Fastpass started quite a few years before phone cameras were much in use and camcorders were still pretty crappy quality, especially in darker areas, that's proabably why you don't see any video footage of the restrooms. I am howerver surprised nobody has tried the "emergency method" and filmed it in recent years. Perhaps Disney just doesn't want guests using them anymore?

I understand the appeal and wish I could help!

If this offers any sort of consolation, I'm pretty sure it's not the only ride that has that feature. I know Rise has bathrooms conveniently right behind the big hanger scene in the queue. I have a hunch they're used for those emergencies, because once you're in the hanger the only way out, that isn't backstage, is the ride.

You also made me just spend some time seeing if I could find a similar secret bathroom in the Haunted Mansion portrait gallery.
Yes, this also has me thinking that other rides probably have this as well, did you find one for the Haunted Mansion portrait gallery?

This is what I’ve been confused by. I’m surprised no one has filmed especially as some people know about it. In this picture, is it where those two people on the left are walking to?
In the video they keep going left....I think the CM was letting them on the ride from the exit, but it would be if they went straight along the left of the stairs.

There's a door to the right at the very beginning of the hallway that goes backstage. And there's a small room that looks like it could be a bathroom pretty close to it. There must be one somewhere down there because cast members have to go pee, and there's nowhere really else in the mansion or close by that's a candidate. Like all these bathrooms, they're probably 99% used by cast members, they just were positioned so guests can easily get there as well.

This is all speculation though, and I'm just going off blueprints.
All interesting points. Is the bathroom confirmed? Or just guess

Also, since I have always wondered, where does the front door to the mansion go to?

It’s not really a secret bathroom. Cast Members have to use the facilities just like everyone else. They exist in every large attraction facility along with things like small offices and break rooms. Currently, the California Plumbing Code 422.4 requires a maximum travel distance of 500’ to a toilet.

I'm pretty certain it's fake. Most doors in Disneyland are true doors (they usually lead to boring stuff like broom closets and the like), but I don't think that one is. If it were ever opened it would destroy the illusion, so it wouldn't be very practical to have it actually have hinges.
Sometimes the easiest way to fake a door is to just build a door and lock it. If you look at some construction photos of The Haunted Mansion you will see ones where the opening is framed but the door is not yet installed.

Was looking and found another HM blueprint that clearly labels the restroom. Funny that at the time this was drafted it was only for the ladies.

View attachment 560099

It's been a lot of years since I worked Haunted Mansion (many years). There are actually two bathrooms, and they are now unisex. The roughly triangular space beneath the words "Ladies Restroom" is the A/V space that contains the projectors for the morphing paintings in the hallway. One restroom opens to the hallway. The other opens to the A/V room and is also a custodial closet with a deep utility sink. Because this diagram is an interpretation of actual blueprints, there are a number of minor fudges. But it's essentially correct. Also of note is that the circle with the number two in it in the lower left quadrant is Door #2 and it's now and alternative entrance during COVID. They have done light themeing in the stairs and corridors (which are also not entirely correct in this diagram).
