Indoor Theme Park

Would it be possible for Disney to make an entire theme park indoors??? I can see the headlines now: Disney Creates World's Largets Indoor Theme Park.

Up here in Minnesota, we have the cute little Camp Snoopy in the Mall of America, which is entirelly indoors. There is also that place in Vegas that is indoors.

Here is what I think Disney could do with this:\

1. Disney would be able to use special effects to control the weather, and the time of day. Think "The Truman Show", where they could make it day or night whenever they wanted. I dont know why Disney would want to make it rain in the park, but they would be able to do it!

The first thought I had of the main theming of the park would be a sort of "seasonal" park. I had the idea a while ago, but I think this could enhance the experience.

You would have "Summer Land", where the sun is shinning and warm weather is abundant.

"Winter Land", where it could be slightly chillier, and mabey Disney could make fake snow for certain areas of this land. It would appear to be cloudy out most of the time.

"Spring Land" could make use of the rain option I thought of, although I dont know why Disney would want it to actually rain on guests. If anything, keeping the weather nice would be the main advantage of having an indoor park. This would also make it great to put in places besides WDW or California, like in Tokyo, where it Snows sometimes and they already have the roof on World Bazaar.

"Night Land" woudl be dark all the time. Stars would be out, and special effects used in the Mexico pavillion and the Drive In Dinner at MGM would be used here.

If they could actually control what time of day it seemed to be, they could use that for a night time show. They could also have a night time show during the day in "Night Land", where it is dark all the time.

They wouldn't have to use these very ideas, but I think having an indoor theme park, where the weather is controlled woudl be awesome.

I like the season thing....

if u go to WDW in winter....they can make the park feel like summer or spring....

and vise-versa......

I like it!

it would be ideal in the UK! where it always rains! lol! i think they would have lots of problem with space, and expansion. Also if something set on fire or something then it could be very dangerous.

Yes, space would have to be taken into consideration. Once again making a refrence to Camp Snoopy in the Mall of America, the place is basically full, and unless they take somethign out, they wont be able to add much. Disney would either need to leave enough open space to expand, and/or make the rides easy to change. Still, it wouldnt be much different than adding on to something like the Magic Kingdom, where I think the place has always been limited to the area inside the train tracks.

Very cool idea

Night land would be great
You could see Spectromagic anytime of day

Plus most rides at WDW are better looking on the outside at least at night with all the lights.

that would be very sweet

Indoor theme parks suck normally and I'm not counting Disney Quest as it is interactive and virtual mostly. Anyone from the UK may know about Fantasy island at Skegness which was a pyramid building but ended up loosing space quickly and it has two coasters, both world class but with crap themeing which are actually outdoors and can't operate in wind speeds of over 16mph!!! It detracts from the whole indoor idea to have parts of it outside. Anyone from the UK ever been to the Metro Centre in Gateshead near Newcastle with its little indoor theme park Metroland and it's little dinky coaster...LOL . Two fairly good examples of indoor parks are that place in Vegas that i can't remeber the name of I think it might be Adventure Dome or something and in Canda at the Edmonton Mall they have a pretty huge coaster indoors it is well over 120ft which is cool indoors. But if Disney did do the indoor park idea it should be in Paris as the weather sucks most the time and WDW is already to crowded! But Disney would do indoor well so it would be cool!

Well, here in Minnesota, the Mall of America is expanding soon, I think. Disney would be an ideal space here, cause it gets really cold in thw winter and reallly hot in the summer (sometimes), but I don;t think they would build here.

Maybe they can build an indoor theme park in Chicago. we have a six flags here but nothing of that sort in the winter. Disney would be a welcomed addition to my area.

LOL!

I saw this thread and I was like "I don't remember writing any of this...?" Then I noticed it was from 2002...

Yeah, Camp Snoopy has since become "The Park at the MOA". Pretty generic and boring if you ask me. I also have not heard of the closing of the mall either. I thought they were expanding?

I think ur park idea is a realy good idea... but maybe intead of "night land" You could have "fall land".. and as the day progreses throughout the park the lights could be arranged in a way that makes it seem like the sun is setting and as it begins to set the moon and stars will start to appear as the lights from the attractions turn on.

.. do u have any ideas for rides yet
