Indiana Jones Theme Park Idea

Indiana Jones is one of the most well-known franchises in the world, along with Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Marvel. But I’ve recently thought of the idea of an Indiana Jones story-oriented theme park, complete with rides, attractions, restaurants, stories, and secrets. I got the idea for the park because recently I’ve been getting into the new Indiana Jones game, and I thought that a park where you could explore places around the globe, solve mysteries, and find lost treasures was cool.

I am planning on building of the park, along with a map, but this is just the rough planning phase. The park would use a similar design to Tokyo Disney Sea, where lands feel like their own world and a river would be running through the park. Each land would have both a sea relic and its own separate artifact. With the main E-Ticket of the ride focusing on one of them, and a scavenger hunt focused on the other, in each land. The park is designed so people can enjoy it normally, follow the story, and go through each land. With all seven sea relics found, you can unlock the gateway to the lost and forgotten island of Vulcania. Lost to years, being abandoned from somewhere in the 1800s to now, in 1937. If anyone has any criticism or feedback towards the park, I’d love to hear it. Any ideas for future additions or changes to the park would be appreciated.

Cairo - The street markets and bustling city scape of Cairo makes for a perfect starting land for an Indiana Jones park. Being one of the most iconic locations, and fight scene in the Indiana Jones movies. The land could incorporate some live actors and even a stunt stage similar to the market scene from the Epic Stunt Spectacular. Retail stores, restaurants, and the scavenger hunt would all be incorporated in the market place and Cairo as whole. The rides would include a market teacups spinning flat ride, and the main attraction of the land would be an EMV Dark Ride. A successor to the Indiana Jones Jeep rides, going into the pyramids of the pharaoh.

South East Asia - The land would have two main sections, an outpost with Bengali style architecture and the dense jungle. The rides would include, a disk-o flat ride, a mine cart kids coaster similar to Flight of the Hippogriff, but with maybe a dark ride scene, and a river rapids ride.

Scandinavia - We head north to the land of the vikings, trying to look for the Tree of Yggdrasil, and the entrance to Asgard. The first part of the land is based in a Norse fishing port, with a splash boat ride styled to look like Viking ships. The final part of the land would take us to Asgard, the dwelling place of the gods. The city would feature a whip flat ride based off of the Asgardian goats. The main attraction of the land would be a koka arm dark ride searching for the tree of Yggdrasil.

Lost Delta - The Lost Delta is probably the first idea for an Indiana Jones land that comes to mind, the dense jungle being similar to the Temple of the Forbidden Eye in Disneyland and the Lost River Delta “port of call” at Disney Seas. The land would have a similar outpost theme, but a certain mythological creature would be heavily tied into the land's mythos. The mythical Basilisk would act as the legendary beast for the land, and he would play a center stage role in the E-Ticket ride of the land. In terms of restaurants, attractions, etc I could see an Indiana Jones antiquities store, Hangar stage, Sallah’s cantina, and maybe even a digsite playground and walk through. In terms of ride, we will get an… LPS water flat ride (like Aquatopia), a new version of the Jungle Cruise themed around the land’s mythos, a flying theater over the amazon, a trackless Jeep ride (like the one planned for the Cars ride at Magic Kingdom), and a Magnetic-Guided Boat Dark ride. The same system as Shanghai’s pirates, entering a temple overtaken by nature, inhabited by the Basilisk.

Rome - We now enter Rome, a vibrant city between new and old. I could see the land probably being the best place in the park to get food, I definitely love different foods around the world and would love to see different cultures mixed into the park’s food, but Italian food is just universally loved by apparently everyone. The rides seen in this land would be, a classic carousel flat ride, a dancing LPS flat ride (like Luigi’s at DCA), a train ride cabin simulator, and an idea for an EMV Water Coaster that I got from Imagineerland. He made a pretty cool and detailed plan for an Indiana Jones ride, and the idea was just too cool to pass up.

Japan
- The land would capture the industrial period of 1930s Japan with the traditional Japanese architecture. The rides would include a flashlight dark ride using the same technology as Monsters Inc. Ride n’ Go Seek. A musical boat dark ride revolved around Japanese mythology, and a trackless dark ride themed around mystical artifacts, a lot like Mystic Manor.

Athens - The final land before Vulcania takes us to Athens, the dwelling place of the Greek Gods. Multiple mysterious and unknown locations would play a role in the Athens storyline. Such as a dark ride using the same system as 20,000 Leagues at Disney Seas, following Indy as he descends to look for the lost city of Atlantis. Or a shooting dark ride in the Greek ruins, revealing the location of Mt. Olympus. The flat ride featured in this land would be an aerial spinner, themed to WW2 style planes. I could see the land really capturing the beauty of Greece, which is good because I want to go for a Disney Seas kind of park. The main attraction of the land would be a motorbike coaster, with similar ride vehicles and ride experience to Hagrid’s. I love that ride and I think it makes purpose sense for an Indiana Jones ride, weaving through Greek ruins and escaping the country.

Vulcania - The final destination and the thing Indy has been looking for is Vulcania, lost to the ages. Taking place after the Captain Nemo and the other Jewels Verne stories. The star attraction of the island and the whole park itself is inside the mountain. A multi-dimension coaster a lot like Gringotts at Universal, the ride would go deeper and deeper into the volcano, searching for the missing artifact of the Sea.
