Increased operating hours in December

I see on the Official Disney World website that operating hours are extended for Monday Dec 9th. Park now closes at 11pm with Extra Magic Hours now at 1am. Saturday Dec 14th Magic Kingdom closes at 1am. Does this mean the hotels are filling up for that week?

Usually it's in anticipation of a larger crowd, yes.

The originally released hours are nearly always extended around holidays. It has been this way for several years with the early release of hours.

The Pop Warner Super Bowl and National Cheer and Dance Championship is being held at the ESPN WWOS from December 7th thru 14th. I believe that is also part of it. I have been there several times during Pop Warner and I have never felt the crowds to be that much larger than normal than any of the other weeks after Thanksgiving until the build up to Christmas. In fact I am there again this year from the 8th to 14th.

I noticed that DHS is closing earlier on December 11th. I had a FP+ for Fantasmic scheduled that night that got changed to something else earlier. I had my schedule printed out a couple of weeks ago and it was fine then. So I added Fantasmic on my arrival day even though I like to chill out in DTD.
