In Room Celebrations?!

I've never heard of an official "In Room Celebration" but stumbled upon this while reviewing my resort's amenities. For "just" $400, you can have a surprise pirate adventure, thanks to Captain Jack himself. While in theory, this sounds awesome for my pirate loving kids, in practice though....$400 ain't happening. Just wondering if anyone did an "In Room Celebration" and your thoughts.

Also, that Pirate cruise on the lake around to see the fireworks. I believe Pan and Hook make brief cameos, and their's not restrooms aboard. But if enough of you rave about this, I may reconsider.

That doesn't really sound unreasonable to me if you want someone else to throw your kid's party. I rented one of those indoor bounce house places for my son's birthday this year. They dealt with all the planning, etc. and it ended up costing us about $450.

You'll say it ain't happening even more when you see what it actually includes

It's not so much an actual celebration as it is Disney Floral sticks a bunch of pirate themed junk in your room. The only benefit to doing something through Disney Floral is they are the only ones who can have something in your room for your arrival. Any other floral/gift company can only simply deliver it to the hotel and then you get it from the hotel later.

We did one this last trip. I did it because it was the first real vacation we had in 10 years and it was my son's first trip to WDW ever. I also did it because all three kids knew about the vacation since day one so I wanted to surprise them with something special. They really worked with me too because the one I chose came with pairs of some stuff I wanted and some stuff I didn't...so they let me get three of everything I wanted instead of the stuff I didn't. It also came with A LOT of stuff that I don't recall mentioned in the description when I ordered it. I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not doing it for our next trip...I don't even know that I'd ever do it again, but I feel that it was worth it under the circumstances.

Side note...I also ordered myself a birthday cake because we left for vacation on my birthday and I knew my mom, (who came with us) would stress because we didn't get to sing Happy Birthday to me. I ordered it from Disney Floral...it was decent. Clearly I underestimated my mother because she ordered a birthday cake for me from The Grand Floridian and it was probably the best birthday cake I have EVER eaten in my entire life. SO good, that I am seriously considering ordering another one this next trip just because it was so freaking good :)

If the $400 "everything and the kitchen sink" room decor packages sound like too much, you can always customize gift bags, flowers etc through them at a lower cost. As @dreamfinder put it, you're paying to have everything arranged and ready for you upon the day of arrival (as opposed to going to Party City and setting up everything youself on your vacation time).

We have done both in room celebration and the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage. We felt both were worth it. It was kiddo's 5th birthday. We don't do parties every year, and this was a splurge. Normally, her birthday consists of a cookie cake and a dinner of her choice, but do extra special things for the big birthdays like 5, 10, 13. The in-room gifts included many things we would have bought anyway, like Mickey Plush, ears, autograph book, birthday cake, lanyard, etc. They put things all around the room the first night of our arrival, while we were out to dinner. The floral department did a great job with all the little details. We discovered they put a glow-in-the-dark Tink on the headboard once we went to bed.

Pirates and Pals was so fun! Great meet and greets, tons of snacks, and overall fun atmosphere with trivia games on the boat before the fireworks. Every child got a pirate themed prize. Each boat had a pirate and both of them were hilarious.

Did they play the fireworks music on the boat?
Yes. It was piped in. We went during February the year we did it, and they had blankets for everyone to cover up with and you could take hot-chocolate (or other beverages) on board. I remember when we were leaving the snack area, that the CMs told the families to take any leftover snacks (the prepackaged ones) to eat later during their trip. The kiddos and their parents loved that. We had snacks for the next day.

I haven't personally purchased an In Room Celebration but I have friends who purchased one for their child's birthday, and they said that it was a bit expensive for the overall experience.

This was our experience too. I never had so much food given to me by Disney. I took several bags of popcorn, chips, and other assorted foods, and they actually encouraged me to do so. It was a great experience and we had only adults in our party. Captain Hook and Smee did meet us before the cruise and Peter Pan was there at the end. We were fortunate to catch the Water Pageant as well as Wishes. It is something I highly recommend, and one of the few tours where I think you got a little more for your money.
