In-Room Celebration Welcome Basket?

I searched and couldn't find these exact questions anywhere, sorry if they've already been asked. I want to have a welcome basket in the room as a surprise for my mom when we get to POR in a couple weeks. I've done in-room celebrations before, but never on the day we arrive. When I book it with Disney Florist, is it an option to have it in the room already when we check-in? I've been able to give them a room number when I've booked before, so how will they deal with that? And is it likely that it will actually be in the room when we check in that day, or will it just be sometime that day? Thanks in advance for your help!

We tried to do the Great Mickey Package (or whatever they call the biggest welcome package) and cancelled it because they said they would not deliver on the first day you check in.

The CM I talked to at Disney Florist said all packages are delivered on your first full day (the day after check-in) after 3pm during a 2 window selection you choose. We decided it isn't much of a welcome package if you don't get it until the day after you check in so decided that 300 dollars could go to a dinning plan upgrade.

Until the minute they print your room key, there's no guarantee what room you'll be in, so there's no way they can put something in the room ahead of time.

I've used Disney Florist twice, and had a custom cake delivered to the room once. None of them were delivered before we checked in. It's what gardenia said - even if you have an exact room number on request, it's never guaranteed until you check in. So they don't deliver until after check in. I have never had a problem having things delivered the day of check in though. All 3 times our items were delivered after we checked in, that same day. We checked in, showered, unpacked & went for a walk to explore the resort. Upon return, the items we ordered were there.

So, even if you don't have a room number to give Disney Florist when you order, they can just look up the info at the hotel to find you once you've checked in? That would be perfect. We'll be out and about most of the day once we've checked in, so as long as it's there at some point that day, that would be great. I just didn't know you could even book something without a room number.

Thanks everyone!

Kind of upsetting to hear you can get it day of. We had planned on going to check in at the resort drop our bags and go to a park. This would mean we would return around 10 or later that night which was way out of the delivery times. I asked the woman at Disney Florist if there was any way we could get it delivered on the check-in day and she said absolutely not. Ugh I guess that is 400 dollars Disney Florist doesn't get because of one cast member.

We ordered the welcome basket two years ago for the day we arrived. When we checked in they had in waiting in the lobby and presented to our daughter. This was at the WL.

I'm not sure if this helps entirely, but I was reading that the following resorts have bell service drop off where you don't have to be in your room for drop off.

- Animal Kingdom Lodge
- Swan and Dolphin Resorts
- Disney’s Polynesian
- Grand Floridian
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort (Bay Lake Tower)
- Coronado Springs
- Beach Club
- Disney’s Yacht Club
- Disney’s Bonnett Creek
- Disney’s Boardwalk Resort

From the way it is described at the following link, it doesn't even sound like you have to know your room number yet at those resorts to have a delivery.
Anyone know for sure?

I had a welcome gift delivered to the room on our last trip. As we checked into the Coronado I noticed he was taking a bit of extra time, my guess is after they assigned the room number someone ran it over to the room. My son was delighted after a long trip! I appreciated that they went out of their way at the resort to make the gift appear!!

Many times I have had things delivered and in the room as we check in or the day we check in. Three different times flowers I ordered were in the room when we checked in and other gifts were delivered during our check in day. It all depends on if your room is ready when you get there or not. They usually send the items to the resort and they wait until your room is assigned. If your room is not ready when you get there and you go off to the pool or parks then they will usually deliver the items to the room as they are getting it ready since it is now assigned to you, or they will deliver them later that day.
