Just got home from a day at Disneyland! Three showings of Aladdin later... (30!!! :lookaroun )
Quick stuff first, before Imagine:
-ToT line: 15 min. Screamin line: 50 min. So much for attracting crowds...
-On Screamin', we are now down to just ONE train (out of seven) with working music, and that is Green 7. I think we're hitting a new low here...
-DL Park was crowded today with the leftover Grad Nite trash, and I ain't talkin' about discarded junk... I made sure to give a big thank you to all the Cast Members I saw trying frantically to keep them in check... and told off a group or two of high schoolers myself when they got too disruptive.
Now, the report you've all been waiting for... my take of "Disney's Imagine... A Fantasy in the Sky." Beware of spoilers ahead!
All I can say is... WOW! I didn't quite know what to expect going into this, and I was thoroughly impressed! :sohappy: It's certainly no Believe, but it's right below it on my list of favorite fireworks (Believe in Holiday Magic > Believe... There's Magic in the Stars > Disney's Imagine... A Fantasy in the Sky > Fantasy in the Sky WDW > Fantasy in the Sky DL)
When the music first started, I recognized it immediately as the beginning of WDW's FitS, and automatically thought we had just got a clone - I was wrong! It took the intro from WDW's FitS, then went into part of "Imagine" from the WDW Magic in the Streets CD, then through a medley of a number of Disney movie songs. The songs included that I can remember offhand are: A Whole New World (woo! ), Circle of Life, Part of Your World, and Colors of the Wind. These songs were just like the CD versions, with a bit of extra percussion and such added in. Then it was back to the WDW FitS and "Imagine" tracks for the finale. The exit music is the instrumental second half of "Imagine." Kind of a cute music choice, and it really brought back memories for me of my College Program - I even found myself singing along. However, it was quite obvious that the music was slapped together, as there are some very abrupt cuts in music. I was sure that, given a reference copy, I could reconstruct it using my freebie audio editing software.
As for the shots themselves, I enjoyed them! They did not feel quite as synched as with Believe, and there were less of the big shots, I think. But rest assured, the castle/Fantasyland rooftop pyro is still present, and is actually used MORE than in Believe! Our favorite shaped bursts are all back, and the fan-shaped spread from Believe in Holiday Magic makes a return, as well.
And of course, Tinkerbell is still present, wowing crowds. Overall, I give this show a thumbs up, and judging by crowd reaction, a lot of other guests do as well.
I took plenty of photos, and uploaded about 15 of my best Imagine photos to my photo album at http://xfkirsten.fotopic.net
Enjoy!
