Imagination- Completly re-imagined.

This Pavilian at Epcot has the most promise to what it can be but budget issues leave the current Pavilian dead. Figment or not though, this pavilian can become something so amazing, that jaws will always drop.

Destruction-
Tear everything down. The Theatre, the show building, and outside. The only thing remaining would be the shell of the two pyramids. But those would basically have to be entirely rebuilt.

Ressurection-
The new Pavilian will rise out of the wreckage of the current one. A new modern design will rule the pavilian.

Pyramids-
Instead of being a bunch of glass triangles layed over a metal structure a new grander and simpler design will take hold. The Structure would be only on the edges of the pyramids leaving the planes with nothing but glass. The new glass will seem to have giant cracks arranged in a certain futureistic pattern. The inside and outside of these cracks will be layed out with Various live-wire strings. This is so during the night, the cracks glow different colors ever 30 seconds or so. The bottom floor below the Pyramids will be all nice and open and feature a nice and large plaza. Several elevators and escalators will take guests up to the indoor balcony. This balcony will feature a neat futuristic design and have flashes of light that all head toward the Imageworks.

The outside part of the Pyramids will also feature balconies. These ill feature vegetation all around and there will be an outdoor elevator as well as a long and wide wheelchair ramp going around the edges of the Pyramid. The bottom structure below the glass pyramids will be large metal structures resembling crystals. These would shoot outward giving a really neat look. It would resemble Frank Ghery's work in a way.

The new Dark Ride-
This will be located in a newly built 2 story show building where the current is. If there is room, the building will be larger and the building might even be 3 stories. Most of the second floor though would be reserved for imageworks. Anyway, for the new ride, guests enter into a dark tunnel as lights and such flash around. They soon enter a large funhouse like place with many turns and such. The line would be done in a style of Dueling Dragons or Indiana Jones where it is all really a long line with no switchbacks. Fastpass would run parralel to the stand-by line.
After a long time going through the line, guests will finally enter a theatre. This would be located on the floor below the Imageworks right before that part. Here guests would learn about the use of imagination and such done to the same style as the Tommorowland segments on Disneyland in the 50's. The show soon talks about dreams and such and imagination. It soon personifies the figment of imagination as Figment and talks about how this can lead to dreams. The show then gives figment a companion to find these dreams (reverse of the original show). The two characters then introduce themselves and the theatre doors open to the loading dock for the ride.
Here guests board a cars with a back of 4 and front of 3. Each are sent out in groups of 4. These cars though are quite different than the current incarnation. They are not trackless but instead run on an EMV system.
The new ride would be similiar to the original in many ways describing imagination but there would also be different themes and such. The main message though is that if you use your imagination, you can create many amazing things. The ride goes through a multilevel track through many well done sets. Several time the track splits to enable longer show scenes. The car groups though will always stay together. (they can rotate).
The very ending has guests entering a speed-tunnel with the screens on the side but soon it goes dark and only bright lights flash by. Soon a large air-blast is heard and guests appear in a stary room much like the current version. Here then they unload.

More is to come.

Guests will exit out into indoor plaze. Here, they board elevators to the interior balcony. They soon follow the lights to the Imageworks.

Imageworks-
Taking up a good portion of the second floor. Here, the light tunnel is instant and this time it uses livewire instead of Neon (I think this is what the current one in Innoventions uses). The live-wire though would be of bright colors of the rainbow. Once inside, there will be several things to do. Give your ideas but I have several things for sure.
Color pads that make sound: Like the old ones, not the new ones.
Giant Pin Boards: Simple but really really fun.
Giant Kalaidiscope: Sure why not?
There will be many things to do and this area will bare the resembelence to Disney Quest. Imageworks could possibly have a relocation of Cyberspace Mountain.

3-D Theatre-
The new Theatre will have an entrance from inside the Pyramids as well as an exit inside this part. The building for this though would appear as a large Metal crystal extending from the pavilians side. At night, colors would glow and come out out of holes in the structure. The theatre itself will be huge compared to the current one. The new building would be taller and have higher capacity. The preshow theatre would also be better designed. It would be done to the same style as T23D. The big theatre will be built so that it can have 3 screens or it can have 1. It will be built so a new show can be built really fast. The first show to come will be something completly new but fitting with the pavilian.

Outside- This place would be built to feature many gardens and water features. The foilage will be AK thick around here but there will be clearings to be able to see the pavilian. The fountains will be of:
Jumping fountains: Just like the old ones.
Waterfall tunnel: Like the molecular fountain planned for Disneyland. The water would fall up over a walkway. The part with the water though would be enclosed and themed to rocks.
There would be many other water features giving a serene yet fun atmosphere.

The Process-
All this could not be done at once and the whole pavilian could possibly run at $300+ Million. So, the pavilian would be done in phases with hope that management will not put anything on hold or cancel. Here is the order.
1. Refurb the pyramids: This will be done while the old pavilian is still open. The store and imageworks below will be closed though.
2. Tear down the old show building: As well as the old imageworks and such. The whole thing will be be cleared and construction will begin.
3. Start construction of new parts 1: The new Imageworks would be built as well as the line and preshow of the new ride. The new ride though will not start constuction yet but the building will be built.
4. Open the new Imageworks: This place will open while the rest of the place is being rebuilt. The plan is to keep at least 1 thing open while the reconstuction goes on.
5. Start construction of Dark ride: While this is going on, the preshow theatre would temporarily be used for another show.
6. Tear down 3D theatre: Not neccesary, the current theatre could just be refurbed.
7. Start construction of Outside: This is not neccesary either but it would bring a stop to the 80's concrete look of the park.
8. Open Dark Ride: It will already have been maybe 2 years since the whole project construction started. But this ride should be worth the wait.
9. Build new 3-D theatre: This can take as long as it wants since the rest will be done.

I would expect the whole thing to take 2-5 years if it is all constant. IT could take only 2 if all done at once but the price of this would trail around 300 million. If theatre and outside remain the same, it could be about 150 million and if the buildings remain intact it would probably be around 100 million. But I don't know.

This sounds great! Although I haven't been in this plaza in soooo long, I can't remember how big it is. Are you sure you'll be able to fit everything in on the site? What are the site dimensions?

You mentioned Fastpass in the queue area and also that the proposed budget would be $300M. Do you propose the attraction to be an E-Ticket scale project?

It would be an E-ticket scale dark ride. But everything should fit perfectly since the footprint would remain practically the same with the ride building being slightly larger. (only worries would be Soarin and service roads).

I am bumping this because I still feel as if it is a good idea.

Sounds like a massive undertaking! $300 million might not be enough!
Idea does sound good. My family just went to Epcot for the first time this past October and I was disappointed overall in the Imagination area because I did not feel there was much for my little girls to do! So, these adjustments sound like they are headed in the right direction. Keep it up! Whats your next step?
