Other than Jurassic park.... What's been cloned?
I was under the impression everything else was either opened at virtually the same time or even at Orlando first.
I am not sure about the past, but currently they are keeping up a pretty good mix. Transformers is a clone, but Despicable Me, Potter 1 and Potter 2 are all currently unique to Florida.
Technically isn't ET unique to Florida in terms of USA parks as well.
Recent attractions:
2008: the Simpsons ride...opened almost the same time...
2009: Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit...unique to USF....
2010: Wizarding World of Harry Potter...unique to IOA...
2012: Despicable Me...opened in USF as a unique attraction(being cloned in Cali next year)
2013: Transformers the ride...cloned from Singapore and Hollywood...
Not a bad track record. Ill take clones now and then as long as they're quality...and as long as we get original stuff now and then too.
Where does an attraction move from clone to original? Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit has a very similar premise to Hollywood Dream: The Ride at Universal Studios Japan. Attractions be nearly identical in layout, experience, etc. (ie. Transformers, The Littler Mermaid, Toy Story Midway Mania) etc. is a more recent phenomenon. Are the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters / Lazer Blast a clone of Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin? Is Splash Mountain a clone?2009: Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit...unique to USF....

But it's ok to clone LM and Carsland right?
Just go back to trolling the Disney section, ok?
Original stuff? Those are all the same ride with different video that looks like Nintendo 64.
I don't think manufacturer is all that important. More than just the music is common. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit was about expanding the concept and bringing the success of Hollywood Dream: The Ride to Universal Studios Florida. Change the name and drop the vague music production concept, do we then have a clone?Completely different rides. They were even designed by different companies (unfortunately.) The on-ride music is the only thing they have in common.

I really do not think having a different layout is the all or nothing you're claiming. The music, front of the park setting and lighting are part of the equation. That is how the same coaster in a different setting can create a different experience. The original iterations of Space Mountain were not much more than a basic roller coaster in the dark (a gimmick that could just as easily fall into the "window dressing" category), but I don't think the very different track layouts between the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland would be enough for people to declare a total separation.No. You'd have two completely different coasters regardless. Since they're both pretty basic, unthemed coasters, the fact that they have very different layouts is vital to such a comparison. Everything else is window dressing.
