Hey guys, I accidentally posted this in the wrong section :-P

I am goin' to WDW for a whole week in August of 2005. We are estimating that we are going to have saved a total of $1,600 for the trip, I am wondering if you can give me any hints on where to stay?, how much Park Hopper Tickets would cost? We are going to rent A nice car and drive to Florida.

Any advice? I would greatly appreciate it?

thanks

Brian~

Well......... This all depends on where you want the majority of the 1600 to go. Personally, I think you could find a reasonible rate in one of the moderate or delux resorts that would fit quite well into your budget. I personally recommend either the Boardwalk Inn or The Yatch or Beach Club. I enjoy both of these resorts because their locations are PERFECT in WDW. (within walking distance of MGM and Epcot)
As for the rental car, I personally would recommend shopping online for the best rates, but make sure that your rental car company is IN THE AIRPORT!!!!! A lot of people don't know that even the off-site companies still charge for that hefty airport tax!!! And the tram service is often very unreliable (from my own personal exp.) The two companies that usually have the most reasonible rates are: Budget and Dollar Rent a Car. My suggestion would be to frequently check their websites for rate codes and wait for the most reasonible rate to appear. Oh by the way, BE PATIENT!!!! I have learned that many of the car rental companies post their best rates (with or without special offers) at the end of the month (for some strange reason) Also, if you see a rate that is very low and make online reservations only to see another company post a lower rate, it is very easy to cancel your reservations up to a week in advance of your arrival date.

Also, be careful if you use mousesaver.com to find special discounts for rental cars!!!!!!!! Many times their negociated rates include hidden charges that many think is just taxes factored into the price. I personally don't trust mousesaver AT ALL anymore!!!! It seems to me that them and the car rental companies are in it together and both have been falsely advertising FOR YEARS!!!!!!! A wish someone would DO SOMETHING!!!!

Anyway........ Good LUCK and have a great TIME!!!!!!!! I hope you have a MAGICAL WEEK OF WDW FUN IN THE SUN!!!!!

I will be there from Aug 24 - Sep 06, and I am leaving for WDW in less than 7 hours for a week :xmas: .

Look at Kingdom Konsultants for info on ticket prices. She has a link to Maple leaf tickets for discounted ticket prices. Also please read some of the treads that are currently hot about info onthe new ticket structure for 2005. You may want to purchase tickets before January 2, 2005. Good luck and maybe we will see you at the world in August.

GoBuckeye~I'm not sure where you get your deals but a deluxe resort for 7 nights in August for under $1,600??? WOW! I want your travel agent!

Honestly I would plan on a Value resort - at around $77-99 a night you'll spend around $700 of your budget on the hotel.

The seven day hoppers are around $300 each. so that takes up another $600 - basically you're left with around $400 for a rental car and food... Get a geo. :D

Honestly you can do most of your trip for under $1,600 with a little planning. Value resorts are great when on a budget b/c you get all the amenities of a larger resort with the price of a value hotel. You get the buses, food court, seperate bathroom sink from shower, great pools and excellant prices!!

My fault!!! I have no idea why I said "a delux resort"?
But..................
I do think for 1600 you can do much better than a value resort. I have seen advertisements for moderate resorts for $119 a night. Lets do the math shall we.... $120 * 6 nights = $720!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! That leaves a lot of money left over for other expenses!!!!

I would not recommend a value resort to ANYONE!!!! Seriously for an extra 10-20 dollars a night you can stay at either.... Coronado Springs, Port Orleans, or Carribean Beach Resort (Very nice RESORTS!)!!!! I'll take those anyday over the value resorts (or as I call them..... Motel 6 on steriods)

Anyway, that was my two cents and I think you are getting your money's worth from me.

For resorts, the best balance between price and quality can be found at the Caribbean Beach. I've seen rooms go for as little as $110 a night! And this is for a hotel whose room quality surpasses the value resorts, and who also has better food service, better location, etc.

What you should do is go to Expedia.com and Disneyworld.com (click on "Vacation Savings," if it's there. If not it will most likely reappear in a few days). Both are offering exceptional room rates and can knock of the price of a room anywhere from 7-40%!

If you're staying for seven days, with the new "Magic Pass" (or whatever it's called) Seven-day Pass you'll save a bundle per day! And you can also save even more on tickets by going to Disneyworld.com or TicketMania.com!

Happy Hunting!

I agree with Indy and buckeye here, find where you want to spend the money. Do you want a great hotel? Then you'll have a short stay. Want to have a long stay? Then you'll have to stay at a lower quality hotel.

Also, how many? You saw "I" and "we", so I don't know. If you are only spending money on yourself, you can get a cheap rate at Pop Century then get non-park hopping tickets. Also, meals are a huge problem, so look into doing a large lunch and a small dinner with a snack breakfast.

Exactly. As always, the number of members in your group determine how much money you would have to spend per day. A generous estimate suggests that a family of four would spend $450 a day at a park, factoring in parking, food passes, and souvenirs, and does not count hotel fees. But keep looking for discounts online as much as you can!

I am going in June and staying there till the first week of July, 20 days to be exact. I have a budget of 2000, but the accomodations and the car were a gift from my mother. I'm thinking about spending 100 bucks a day, do you guys think it's not enough ? Should I raise a little more money ? I'm staying at Port Orleans btw.

20 days! WOW! Food will cost you about $40 a day for non sit down resturaunts (also depends on what you eat), and tickets need to be added.

$100 a day should be good. Just remember to take LOTS of snacks and bottled water. Eat a big lunch and a small dinner (Joe knows what I'm talking about). And don't go overboard on souvenirs or vendor food.

For tickets, check Disneyworld.com or TicketMania.com for discounts.

I have another question. Should I buy annual passes ? I'm sure I'll be back in May'06 so I can see/ride Expedition Everest, but is AP's worth their money ?
