Hello everyone:wave:

Some of you veterans may remember me as "BigB911." Since the last time we went "home" in 2009, we fell victim to the recession. We actually found out in Epcot in '09 that my wife's hospital would be closing and she would be out of a job by January 2010. Talk about putting a huge bummer on what was supposed to be a magical trip!

Since then, while my love of all things Disney never faltered, I strayed away from websites and forums such as this, because it just didn't seem that important at the time. But, by the grace of God, things are looking up for us. Which leads me back to this wonderful forum and wishing...feening...begging the wife for another trip "home."

Hopefully that trip will happen in the beginning of December in time for my peanut's birthday! We shall see...

In the meantime, there are quite a few on here that I lost touch with, and my contact info has changed. Feel free to drop me a line or two at my new e-mail address: bmach911@gmail.com.

It feels good to be back!

Welcome back, AgentB911!

Could totally relate with what you were saying about straying from Disney forums while times were tough. After returning from our March trip last year, it looked like that was going to be the last of the family trips for the foreseeable future. Kids were getting older and didn't seem into it as much last trip, and money was getting REALLY tight. I slowly started to distance myself from this forum, just for the pure fact that I knew there were no WDW trips in the near future, if at all, and it was kind of depressing. Like you, my love for all things Disney never waned, I just found myself not thinking about it as much. :(

Skip ahead to Christmas...we find ourselves sitting down to watch the Disney Christmas Parade as a family on Christmas Day, like we had the past few years, and it got us all talking and reminiscing about past trips and how much we all missed WDW terribly. That, in turn, lead to me coming back to these forums on a daily basis again, which in turn lead to my wife and I talking about the things I had seen on the forums on a regular basis again, which got us talking about the possibility of maybe another family WDW vacation in the not so distant future. :sohappy:

So although we are going to have to buckle down for the next couple of years to straighten out our finances and get back on track (thanks to a weak American/strong Canadian dollar - we live in Canada, wife works in U.S. though), we are thinking about the possibility of a trip in either late 2014 or early 2015. And while that may seem like an eternity to most and too far out to even plan or think about right now, we are looking at it as kind of a "light at the end of the tunnel" scenario. Something to help us get through the tough times, to motivate us to get back on track quickly and to make it all worth it in the end. :)

Really glad to hear things are back on track for you guys! Didn't mean to take over your thread here by any means, just wanted to let you know that I could relate to your story. Here's hoping things will look up for all of us who are going through some hard times, financial or otherwise, so that we may be able to enjoy making some more magical memories with our families in our home away from home! ;)

Thanks, Mike! And you in no way took over my thread! It's kind of nice to hear that I'm/we are not alone in this "economic downturn." Like you, depression started to set in as things got really tough financially. Now that things are looking up, planning a new WDW trip has made things seem so much more brighter for me! Good luck in planning your next trip...2014 will be here before you know it!

Welcome back.

Just curious why you didn't just take up your old screen name instead of going to the trouble of creating a new name?

Thanks, Unka! I created a new name because my old one wasn't very Disney-ish. And I absolutely LOVE Phineas and Ferb, and more importantly, Perry AKA Agent P...hence the new name.
