Variety reports that f/x company Industrial Light & Magic has been tapped to create the computer-generated visuals for Universal's horror actioner Van Helsing, as well as Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean and Hidalgo

Stephen Sommers is helming Van Helsing which centers around the vampire hunter, made famous in "Bram Stoker's Dracula," who travels to eastern Europe and confronts not just Dracula but Frankenstein's monster and the Wolf Man. ILM's Scott Squires ("The Phantom Menace") and Ben Snow ("Attack of the Clones") serve as the pic's visual f/x supervisors.

Meanwhile, Jerry Bruckheimer is producing Pirates of the Caribbean, based on the popular Disney theme park ride. Helmed by Gore Verbinski, the film stars Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush. "Attack of the Clones'" John Knoll serves as visual f/x supervisor.

And Tim Alexander (The Majestic) serves as the f/x supervisor on Disney's Hidalgo, about a cowboy and his favorite horse in 1890, who journey to Arabia to compete in a deadly race for a huge prize. Joe Johnston is directing with Casey Silver producing.

ILM is expected to create hundreds of f/x shots for each film, tackling a mix of digital characters and set pieces.
