If You were the Boss of Walt Disney Pictures...

Let's say you wake up one morning and you find yourself the new head of Walt Disney Pictures and is now faced with the task of creating 12 Movies (excluding sequels) that would shape the future of Disney Motion Pictures. What would those 12 Movies be?

here is my take on this, First of all I would re-establish Walt Disney Feature Animation as a place for traditional animation and re-opening the Orlando and Paris studios.

I would immediately set the who's who of Disney stroytellers on the first big animated project:

The Little White Horse - The beautiful valley of Moonacre is shadowed by the memory of the Moon Princess and the mysterious little white horse. To her surprise, Maria Merryweather, a stranger to Moonacre Manor, finds herself involved with what happened to the Moon Princess so many years before. Not at all deterred by the fact that none before her have succeeded, nor by any discouragement that crosses her path, she is determined to restore peace and happiness to the whole of Moonacre Valley..... Based on the book by Elizabeth Goudge.

The next animated feature will be a quirky comedy similar to Aladdin but without the big musicals.

Dragon Tower - based on the fabled Animal Kingdom Ride. A Boy must help a group of renegade bats steal a mysterious treasure guarded by an evil, jaded Dragon.

The third and perhaps the most visually ambitious animated picture ever atempted since Fantasia:

The Snow Queen - based on the Hans Christian Andersen classic, Th Snow Queen is a visual tour de force as the magical worlds of the clasic tale comes to life.

Following the Snow Queen would be a quirky satirical look at the land of nursery rhymes.

Sheep - "Mary had a little lamb...." Sheep is the story of Larry, the world's most obedient little lamb who loves her master Mary very very much. But when Mary gets herself kidnapped, Larry must brave the vast kingdom of Mother Goose as he along with Baba, a black sheep and Sven, a Duckling who "just can't wait to grow up and be beautiful" go on a mission to rescue Mary.

Noah's Ark - A young boy named Noah must face up to his peers and follow his faith as he builds a titanic ark in this epic tale of biblical proportions.

Wow I also have an idea about Expedition: Everest becoming a movie. It would be a very scary and horrifying flick conscerning a bunch of scientists who get lost in the himalayas and stumble upon an ancient lost civilization in which the mysterious Yeti lives (and it's a hungry carnivore)

I also have movie ideas for:
Test Track - A very soulful movie which follows the thoughts of a crash test dummy as he struggles to get a grip on the fact that he was made to be destroyed (CGI)

Tower of Terror - I know it's already been done but this would be based on the Tokyo DisneySea version with the doomed cruise ship and guests' ghosts coming back to the hotel(ala The Ring/ The Grudge), They could emphasize the horrors of being in an elevator and make it a period piece in the roaring 20's. (Live action)

Also ALIAS: Derevko - Based on the ABC series and follows the exploits of KGB spy Irina Derevko

Journey Into Imagination: Scientists tap into a mysterious place known as the Dreamport where creativity and ideas replace the laws of physics and must escape from a group of nightmarish creatures with the help of Figment and Dreamfinder. They must find a gateway back to the real world and fight the nightmares who are led by the Dreamfinder's evil twin. Action/Adventure/Comedy in Live Action with CGI for Figment and the nightmare creatures and much of the backgrounds ala Sky Captain.

Alien Encounter A live action movie in which the alien, after slaughtering the entire audience (no park guests, investors in XS-Tech), breaks loose on a rampage areound Boston, and it's up to Gary Sinise and Angelina Jolie to track it down before the alien attacks the G-8 Summit.

I'll take a crack at a few movies:

Space Mountain: A top intergalactic spacetruck driver goes missing, and its up to his son and to brave the universe to find his father. Genre: Action, Adventure, Science Fiction, Family

Return of the Muppets!: A Hollywood hotshot feels the only thing to save his eighty-five year old family-owned film company is for the Muppets to reunite and do another movie together. So he sends his fourteen year-old nephew on a cross-country quest to find Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie, and the rest of the gang to bring them all together. Genre: Comedy, Family, Musical

Plus, a movie based on the book I'm writing, and two possible sequels.

If I were the boss of WDP, I'd carry on the tradition of re-releasing old Disney films every seven to ten years. Or at least the films that will get their Platinum Edition DVDs a little further down the line each time.
