If you could make your own WDW commercial

If you could make your own WDW commercial...What type of commercial would appeal most to you and why?

I had to make this video for a school project and it got me thinking.. What would you guys want a Disney commercial to focus most on?

For me, whenever I'm trying to get my friends excited about going to WDW... It's pretty hard to do. Because they don't really know what is actually AT Walt Disney World. So I've always wanted Disney to create some sort of epic WDW attraction-collage ad!

I know it is an odd question. Just curious, though!

I think you are learning a lesson in marketing. Commercials usually have a target audience. And, your comment about wanting something that appeals to college students illustrates why companies have different types of ads that air in different time slots and different shows. They use the target demographic for shows to choose the type of commercial to air in that time slot.

So, if I may, I would change the question: What type of commercial would appeal most to me and why? At this stage in my life (empty nester), a commercial that has fewer small children and less focus on characters would be more appealing to me. Perhaps focus more on resort amenities and other activities (water sports, bike rentals, etc.). But, I also want to see attractions that appeal to people of all ages, because I enjoy being a kid at heart.

Great point!

Your original question said that you have a hard time getting others excited about WDW because they don't know what is AT WDW...

I would begin a commercial that shows the differences between Disneyland and Walt Disney World. I have friends that think Walt Disney WORLD is just a Disneyland, and I have to correct them(which I love to do :) ) and even then they don't comprehend that Florida is a WHOLE NEW WORLD compared to Disneyland. I would end it with a pro/con list of each park and then the words fade in that says..."YOU DECIDE!"

Another commercial I have thought about would be from a song REMEMBER THE MAGIC to be used as a commercial...

(sorry, I had to edit what I wrote and finish my thought...)

CAN YOU REMEMBER BACK TO A SIMPLER TIME(images of a small child playing a simple child's game (i.e...Tag, hide and seek)
BACK TO THE WATER COLOR DAYS THAT STILL RUN THROUGH MY MIND(adult day dreaming of yesterday)
OH I REMEMBER, JUST MY OLD FRIENDS AND ME, RUNNING THROUGH AN OPEN FIELD THE WAY IT USE TO BE...

REMEMBER THE NIGHT(shots of a family enjoying WDW)
REMEMBER THE FUN...
REMEMBER THE LAUGHTER WHEN ALL THE WORK IS DONE
REMEMBER THE MAGIC REMEMBER THE MAGIC(shows a father carrying his sleeping little boy out of the MK with castle blurred in the background)
REMEMBER THE MAGIC ONE MORE TIME(the little boy sleepily wakes up enough to catch a glimpse of Mickey Mouse waving and saying, See ya later, Pal! as the background comes into focus)

and then a title shot of the castle with fireworks above it comes on the screen and says, REMEMBER THE MAGIC IS IN ALL OF US!

Mine would probably focus on how it's something to pass on to your kids since you enjoyed it as a kid as well. I would maybe show a little boy entering the MK for the first time in black and white with his dad and then just being instantly immersed in it. Then I would cut to silence in color with that same boy, now as a man, entering with his little boy for the first time and enjoying watching his kid almost lost in the moment. Then the little kid would say "Daddy, what are you looking at???" and the daddy would say "Myself". And then the line could say something like "Be Yourself at Walt DisneyWorld". I don't know if I explained that very well but it seems all "Hallmarky" in my head. LOL!

I would be too lazy to make a real commercial, so I would just take a picture of Cinderella's Castle, and make it a background, and then put on a recording saying, in a expresssion-less voice

"Come spend your money here. Now. Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida."

And that's it.

I would simply make a truthful commercial where the Yeti does not actually move instead of showing it moving in "A" mode (which it has not done in years). I would show a family planning their visit with charts, timetables, diagrams of where to plug in to charge mobile devices and setting their alarm clocks to be awake at 6:50AM to call for reservations 6 months before they set foot on an airplane. That should help to build the magic no?

I completely agree. That has ALWAYS bugged me in those planning trip DVDs and ads.

I think a commercial should focus ultimately on the fun (the variety and quantity) to be found in a WDW vacation. It would highlight the parks and the top rides in each park; it would highlight the variety in the very cool-themed resorts; it would show off a variety of the dining to be found there. And it wouldn't include corny, flat, unfunny attempts at humor (i.e. the commercial of the family gearing up to ride 7DMT).

I'd also focus on the fun that can be had by not pitching a fit over piddly things, like something you would likely never notice due to the speed of the ride (i.e. the non-moving Yeti).

AND......it most definitely would NOT have a terrible, highly irritating person (like Stacy) leading it.

The Disney park YouTube videos of each park in hyper speed are awesome. I watch them the days leading up to my trip. There's a video of all 4 parks in 1 video but it's like 9min long, so too long for a quick watch for a non Disney fan
