If the stars know that the ride needs to be fixed, then why isn't it fixed?!?!

From the OS interview of Neil Patrick Harris...

Is there a must-do, must-eat, must-see part of Disney World for you?
Where to begin? We really love the Animal Kingdom. There's just so much great stuff there. I love the Kilimanjaro Safari, and we love the coaster [Expedition Everest] although it loses a couple of points with the Yeti not running anymore. I'm a big fan of old-school Audio-Animatronics, so I also am a big Spaceship Earth fan. Haunted Mansion is probably one of my favorite designs ever, so I always have to go see that.

I wish more reviews were as civil as this. Around here, you'd think EE was the most disqusting abomination on God's green earth because the beloved Yeti isn't waving his arms around for that brief 1 second you fly by him.

Don't you people realize that TDO is keeping the yeti broken to prevent a Westworld type situation from arising at AK?! Its the only explanation.

I'm sure if Neil Patrick Harris wrote them a check for the amount it would cost to fix the Yeti, repairs would begin immediately.

Personally I can't be too bothered about the Yeti. Even if functional, you whizz by it in a second anyway.
One malfunctioning AA does not make or break a coaster. For me the real disaster at Animal Kingdom is that 'B mode Tiger River Rapids' of Kali - the world's shortest water ride.

The 'world's largest non-functioning theme park prop' remains a continuing pr disaster though.

It might be just that simple. From everything we have seen and heard it would appear that they know what needs to be done and how to do it. Aside from attraction down time, the sticking point seems to be who is going to pick up the check.

I call it Kali Lazy River. The only other rapids ride I've been on that doesn't get you wet is at Great Adventure. But at least they have an excuse as it was one of the first rapids rides developed. Kali has no excuse. Look at Universal for a really good rapids ride.

Heck, look at Grizzly River Run.

Sit next to me on one trip down Kali and I will all but guarantee that your list will be down to one ride.

Ive heard in the past that Neil Patrick Harris is a huge disney fan and collects all the extinct attraction vids and other stuff. He may be a bit more in the know than your average movie star. Heck he could be on this forum!

So what - exactly - is wrong with the yeti? If my car doesn't work, it's not the entire car that fails, but rather one component or group of related components. So what part of this creature failed?

Based on statements made by Lee it is the arm, in particular the shoulder joint, that is the problem. Unfortunately, it is not a simple swap out the broken part situation as there is a design flaw causing parts to fail.
