If not HoJos, then which hotel on Harbor Blvd would be 2nd choice?

I'm in a jam.

Normally, we book our stays for Disneyland and automatically go to HoJos. This year, with my job situation pretty tenuous, and us not knowing whether we would actually make it out to Anaheim for our annual Disneyland fix, I hemmed and hawed about making our reservations until tonight.

I found out that for the single night we are looking to stay at the HoJos, the entire hotel is booked.

So my question is this: if not HoJos, then which of the Harbor Boulevard hotels would you choose as a backup option?

I'd prefer to be within walking distance of the park. And the stay will only be for one night as we've lucked into a "free" night at the Grand Californian's DVC suites for night #2.

Any suggestions? Any places to completely avoid?

Although it's not on Harbor Blvd, I would try the Annabella Hotel. I've never stayed there but I came close to one time. The pictures look very nice and I always hear great things about it. It's on Katella and you would still be able to walk to the park from its location. Hope you find something good!

Here's a link to the Annabella Hotel's website: http://www.anabellahotel.com/

Best Western Park Place(directly across), Desert Inn(across and down 2 hotels) and Suites, and Anaheim Plaza Hotel(little further directly across from TOT) are all close and cheap. I felt that Anaheim Plaza has a more "resort" feel to it instead of a "motel" feel, it's also fairly dated.

Further down Harbor Blvd. Candy Cane Inn and Desert Palms are both great options as well.

I've always been a big fan of the Best Western Anaheim Inn. Just a hop across Harbor, good prices, very nice rooms. Before I moved to CA it was always my hotel for DL visits. :)

Are you enjoying your trip so far?

Yes very much. It's a totaly different Disney experience, but we have had a great time.

When we get home I'm going to try to do a comparison trip report on what is better where.

I can say a biggie is seclusion of WDW. At the world you don't walk out of the gate and have Captain Kidds staring you in the face.

Oh, this is a first trip??? I'll be waiting for that report, should you write one!

Yes, seclusion is a much bigger factor at WDW. I look at it differently. WDW vets look outside Disneyland and think, there's no seclusion and there's a Captain Kidds/McDonald's across the street! I, and I'm pretty sure a lot of the Disneyland vets look at the outside of Disneyland and say to myself, a McDonald's across the street! I can save money on lunch and dinner!:lol::lol:

Seriously, I'm glad you're having a great time! I'm in Los Angeles and sometimes the weather is a little different from Anaheim. The weather's been beautiful for the past few days in LA. How's the weather in Anaheim?

The Fairfield, literally across the street from HoJo's, has always been very nice for its price point. They just remodeled the rooms a few months ago, and it's still a great value. Hopefully they aren't sold out too. This summer looks to be a blockbuster for Disneyland Resort, and the local hotels and motels are selling out quick!

I'm not in Anaheim, but I am in Villa Park, about 10 miles due east of Disneyland as the crow flies.

The weather here in OC has been nice: Mid to upper 70's during the afternoon, with lows in the 57 to 61 range the last few weeks. And of course, not a drop of rain or an inkling of humidity or anything remotely uncomfortable weatherwise.

Our usual June Gloom hasn't set in yet, although a few mornings there is some beach fog that takes until 10AM or 11AM to burn off completely. We've also had some gloriously sunny days with great visibility and the San Gabriel Mountains and Catalina Island can be seen simultaneously from my deck. Oh, and I can also get a clear shot of the freshly repainted Mighty Matterhorn out there to the north of Catalina Island. And through my telescope I can see several of the tailfins of the Cadillac Range in Cars Land, specifically the '57 through '60 fins. The '61 and '62 fins are obscured from my specific angle in Villa Park.

Sounds like great weather! Don't you just love looking at those mountains? Especially when they're capped with snow. Beautiful.

We're doing the Fairfield for our August trip. Came highly recommended by several friends. They're always sure to say it's "not much" but it's clean, well-run and a great bang for the buck. Excited to try it!

I've stayed at the Portofino, the Clarion, and the Hilton, all just south of Katella, around the convention center. Hilton was nicest, but also cost the most. All were perfectly acceptable for what I needed -- a comfortable bed, a shower, and a 5 minute walk to Disneyland.

We just got finished staying 7 nights. It was clean and very handy. McDonalds in the parking lot for breakfast and dinner a couple nights at Milli's. The only down side is they have outside facing rooms and people who don't understand the concept of through the wall AC units that like to smoke right in front of them caused a bit of frustration a couple of nights.

If you are driving its $11 a night parking. You are about a ten minute brisk walk to the secured area between DL and DCA. You will hear the fireworks each night around 9:30 so just be prepared if you turn in early. They tend to set off car alarms in the surrounding parking lots.
