If I was a millionaire?

So, while daydreaming, I started to think through the post lottery Disney related steps to blowing my imaginary millions. My wife and I always joke about moving next door to WDW and going everyday, but today I had second thoughts. Would I buy a house in Orlando or continue to fly down for log stays? Annual pass or traditional vacation bookings? We love the bubble feeling of staying on property, the EMH's, and DME, but just popping down the road when ever we want sounds great too. How do you all feel? Would you move close (If you live somewhere else) to WDW and forgo staying in the bubble or would you still book a traditional all inclusive vacation? Remember money is no object for this discussion.

Oh, thanks, sorry about the repeat. I was more interested in what people thought were the perks were to living close to the world if money was no object. Pass vs KTTW cards and now magic bands? Disney dining vs dining round the world cards? Or is DVC a perfect combination of bubble magic and convenience vs having to be a real millionaire to be there all the time booking regular vacations?

I wouldn't move closer because I love where I live, but the way I do Disney would certainly change. For one thing, I would fly first class. We would stay as long as we wanted to, probably at a more relaxing pace with "resting" days and plans outside of the parks, and of course since money would be no object, we'd pick wherever we wanted to stay... probably the Bay Lake Towers facing MK. I'd probably even let my kids each bring a friend. Yep, that's what I'd do.

Ironically, the thing we would do if we lived close to Disney World and/or money were no object... would be to visit Universal. We've never been. Disney always trumps it in our minds (preferring the known to the unknown, and the Disney vibe to, well, all other vibes), and the cost of doing both WDW and Uni in one trip is way too much.

I have to be a little cynical here....we come to WDW because it's an expensive rare treat and for us, a very, very long way away. But mostly we come because it is different and unique, which makes it a special place for us. If you lived close by and money was no object, I dare say you would have your fill of Disney and everywhere around it. But there would be a time when you would have done everything, seen everything and eventually grow bored of the place. It would no longer be 'special', it would just be another place you can go to. "Been there...done that", type of thing and you would be looking for something else to see and do.

You put it so well -- you almost make me grateful not to be wealthy. :)

Golden Oaks.... being a MILLIONARE...is not enough money....look at how much they cost!! One Mill...will NOT even be enough to buy the cheapest home!I understand there is another tacked on fee...golf club membership??
Now....if you have $10 mill.....GO FOR IT!!(I would)!

Oh-My-Gosh! I didn't know what that was so I just looked it up. Scratch my above post. I want to move to Golden Oak! That is the place for the ultimate (and millionaire) Disney fan!
Dear God! I thought Golden Oaks was just a McMansion version of Celebration. I also just looked it up and wow! I had no idea about the perks. I agree, that would be my choice if you are at least a millionaire 20-30 times over. Thanks for the info, now I just need those six magic numbers.

I totally agree with you. All joking aside, if I really did come into a lot of money, I would not move to Orlando. I love Disney, but I love other things too.

I wouldn't move there because I feel like it would make it feel less special. Part of the excitement for me is planning and looking forward to my trip. I would stay where I live and just take long vacations there at the grand floridian!

well... my dreams are based on The Powerball so I'm expecting 350 million lump sum after taxes. If that is my benchmark I'd own a home near WDW, DLR, TD, DLP, HKD... yeah, ALL of them.
