If I buy a two day pass for free dining....

Can I upgrade that pass to the Military 4 day hoppers? And if so, would we get a refund for the difference? The two day passes are $40 more than the military tickets. The Disney rep said we could probably upgrade, but didn't know if we'd get a refund. Thanks!

Are you staying at a resort other than Shades?

I don't know the answer but I would think that if you don't use the days on your tickets, the value should be upgraded to another option (much like old passes can be upgraded to modern passes based on the paid value) but I don't think they will give you a refund as much as make you up the days to a ticket of equivalent cost.

We'd be staying at Port Orleans paying rack rate to get the free dining. It actually comes out as a better deal than the Shades of Green 40% off Discount in September.

Yeah, I figured they would let us upgrade to Military, but not get refunded the difference. I suppose I just didn't know because the Military ticket is a special pricing...

If you are trying to get free dinning they will most likely not upgrade you to the military price tickets. I think this is one of those issues that ends up being a case by case and if the ticketing CM that day is a by the books kinda person they have no obligation to allow you to do the upgrade.

I know part of the free dinning deal is that your tickets and room must be rack rate and no offers can be combined. Also make sure you wouldn't do better with just getting the room and ticket discount and paying out of pocket for food or buying the Dinning plan out of pocket. To my knowledge you can not get the military discount and free dinning plan. I might be wrong though.

Right, I do know that you have to pay rack rate, and you cannot combine the military room or ticket discount. Because of the number of people and we're looking at a moderate, free dining works out better I think.

Regarding the tickets...they're just regular two day passes, right? If you're saying the rules for upgrading to Military might be different since it's part of a free dining package, I guess we'll have to take our chances and see what happens. In other words, we would buy the two day passes, THEN upgrade to the Military tickets. The CM seemed to think we could do this, but probably wouldn't be refunded the $40 difference, since a two day pass is $178 vs. the $138 Military ticket.

Yes what I was trying to say with the tickets is that the Key to the World card will show that you are on the dinning plan and most likely show it was bought as part of a package.

Although you may not be staying at Shades of Green I read at mousesavers.com to call them if you have questions about the military tickets because they know the most about them sometimes even more than regular CMs.

Mousesavers.com has this written on their section about Military tickets
"Tickets must be used by the same person on any and all days. May not be combined with any other offer."
That is what made me believer that you will be ineligible to upgrade because if you upgrade you would be combining it with another offer meaning the free dinning plan.

From everything I have been told about ticket upgrades the answer will be no. The general rule of thumb is you can go up in value but not down.

Thank you, and Master Yoda, makes sense!
