If Disney had a Fantasyland Expansion Redo......

If the Fantasyland expansion were being planned today.....would it be Belle's Castle or Arendelle?

Many things in life are dictated by timing. The Fantasyland expansion was being planned and subsequently opened before the release and unexpected success of Frozen (which was in late 2013).

If the timing were different and the new Fantasyland was being planned today.....Would we still be looking at Belle's Castle, Gaston's Tavern, BOG? OR Would it be Arendelle with a Christophe's Tavern, a Sommerhus Restaurant, and a Frozen ride in favor of the Under the Sea?

I'd go with Arendelle. Which may have saved Maelstrom and kept Frozen out of EPCOT.

A footnote:...........This is not about what you prefer. It's about what do you think Disney would have done.

Remember, planning on the scale of a whole land could take years before construction even starts, I believe New Fantasyland planning was announced in 2009. Things could change during the planning, but that could lead to extra expense.

If your question was if Frozen was known to be a success before the planning phase, than maybe more would be incorporated.

But depending how you look at it, Frozen is not currently the highest rated Disney film, according to IMDB it is number 13.

As for all time grossing Disney movies, Frozen is not even in the top ten. The only animations are Toy Story 3, Lion King and Finding Dory. As for just animations, Finding Dory, $486 million, The Lion King, $422 million, Toy Story 3, $415 million, Frozen $400 million, and Finding Nemo, $380 million.

Of course, Toy Story is getting its own land, that took ten years since the release of 3.

Nemo was released in 2003, Lion King in 1994, both extremely popular and all we got a stage show for each and a environmental for Lion King (now deceased) and an arguably under average ride for Nemo. Personally I feel the Festival of the Lion King is just okay (I know I am in the minority on this), the Finding Nemo The Musical I feel is Disney best show.

My point is that it could take years to plan something big for an attraction. The Frozen ride was just a re-purposed attraction and that took awhile.

I know this is mindless blather and probably way off point, it just got me thinking is all.

Not that I endorse it at all, they would've done Arendelle because ever since Harry Potter did wonders for Universal, Disney is under the assumption that franchise based lands will bring the crowds. I would've loved to see them build Arendelle only because they would be able to see how it was such a short sighted addition that very quickly lost steam. Frozen Ever After is now starting to have more manageable wait times and getting fastpasses for it isn't too difficult.

It's good they don't have a chance to redo it. Otherwise they probably would be ditching another small kid area to build Marvel Land East.

We will have to wait to see if Frozen 2 can do as well as Toy Story 2 and 3. If it does, than we could be in for a refresh in a decade or so. I wouldn't be surprised to see something removed, (please, if anything, Tomorrow land Speedway), and a Frozen attraction put in. Maybe repurpose the cars as a reindeer pulled sleigh. Oh wait, some how it would make more sense to put it in EPCOT (yes, I prefer the spelling this way), or AK.

Keep the forest bit infused with Jolly old England. Mary Poppins, expanded Peter Pan ride or 2 diff versions of the same ride like Toad but in 1 bldg. One for princesses one/for pirates. A updated Mr. Toad coaster. Keep Pooh.

Let Snow White stay where she was and give it a real spruce up.

The better timing question to ask is if they had not over-reacted to Harry Potter in starting Avatar, and waited a beat, we would have Star Wars Land now, and possibly would be waiting on Avatar to open next year.. (or Indiana Jones land to replace Dinoland)

Marvel wouldn't affect a Fantasy Land Expansion much if any at all if there was a redo. There could've been concern where the Speedway is. I am referring to doing the Big Hero 6 attraction Tokyo is getting for their Tomorrowland.

The only other two options is for Marvel in terms WDW is Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange outside of Big Hero 6. I don't see Disney brining those two IP in MK even if there was a redo. Sorry, Black Panther can't be done in WDW. If Black Panther was able to be at WDW, there would've been a meet and great at DHS when the movie was first released like they are currently doing at Disney California Adventure.

What I'm getting at is Guardians of the Galaxy was going to be at Epcot no matter what in the eyes of Disney Management. I don't think Disney is looking at doing a lot with Dr. Strange with theme parks. While Dr. Strange had brief appearances in the media back when I was growing, he never in the same category as Spider-man, and X-men back in my era as a teen.

Or no Pandora and something with more staying power. It looks beautiful but will it be relevant in 10 years? I know there are more films planned but what if they bomb? I mean does anyone even actually care about any characters in that movie?
