Ideas for a mother-daughter trip?

My mother (56 years old) just retired on Friday after working at the same job for 38 years (since she was 18!!). (I couldn't be more proud of her!)
Somehow the prices for Disney (and airfare) are cheap enough right now that, splitting the cost between the two of us, I convinced her that we should have a mother/daughter bonding trip to Disney in September. (I'm 27)

So, I'm looking for some ideas of special things for the two of us to do. Keep in mind that my parents took my brother (now 30) and I to Disney every couple of years growing up, but she hasn't been there in 10 years. I, on the other hand, was just there 3 weeks ago ;)

Both of us are total kids - it takes practically nothing to make us dance and squeal with delight at Disney. And I know (at least in theory) about all of the "special" meals, cruises, etc - which doesn't mean you can't tell me about them, or more importantly whether or not you enjoyed them! But I'm really interested in hearing about any special ideas any of you mothers/fathers/daughters/sons have.

(Also, we're on the dining plan - so nice restaurants aren't out of the question...but then again, since we're going to have 7 table service meals, they also get less "special" after a while...)

You could have afternoon tea together at the Grand Floridian and if your budget allows, maybe get a pedicure together or other spa treatment at the Grand Floridian spa.:)

Oooo afternoon tea! I didn't think of that, that's a great idea!
I'd love to do the spa, but I'm not sure if I'm going to have much in the way of extra funds for me...cheap as this trip is, I'm still stretching myself to the limit to go two times in one year...but maybe I could spring for mom to do it by herself and I could just kill some time relaxing on the beach and people watching ;)

Thanks for the ideas!

Go to Jellyrolls!

Go to Cirque.

Relax by the pool drinking fluffy drinks in the sun.

Time one of your dinners for the evening on the patio of Rose and Crown for Illuminations. Should be easy with just two.

Have a sundae together at Beaches and Cream.

Hoop dee Doo.

Take the "behind the seeds tour" or some of the other tours.

Do Segway around the World.

Rent one of the those zippy little boats.

The Adventurer's Club.

Go Shopping at one of the outlet malls.

Tour the shops of the Grand Floridian and other monorail hotels.

have a wonderful time - I'm 58, and my 26 year old daughter and I have been going together for a number of years and we have a great time!! We have to go on a strict budget - so we can't take advantage of most of that stuff- but we still have a great time. Somehow at Disney the mother-daughter stuff goes away and we just become 2 friends.

For Mother's Day I took my Mom to WDW, I told her we were going for lunch at the GF and suprised her with a massage. She loved it and was so excited. I went over to the Magic Kingdom. I got to walk around Main Street and stand in awe I thought about riding a ride without any lines when a cast member by the tip board asked me if I wanted a carnation for my mom. I told her I didn't know what color she would want so he gave me all three. I told him thank you and put them in my backpack with a napkin soaked in water wrapped around the stems. I went through the shops, listened to the music and then looked at the windows before I ran through the turnstiles and jumped back on the monorail. I was just going over the spa when she was walking out. She pulled out her phone and was calling me and I answered right as we pulled up infront. I walked down the main staircase and met her by the pool. I gave her the carnations and we walked through the shops at the Grand Floridian then went to MK. We went on all her favorite rides and saw the parade. She enjoyed it so much!

Another idea is a tour or go through One Man's Dream in MGM together.

Hope you have a good time!

My mother and I love to take Mother/Daughter trips to WDW! Afternoon tea is one thing we enjoy doing!

During the holidays, we do the Candlelight Processional dinner package.

Perhaps there's a tour you'd llike to do together. This year I'm taking her on the Yuletide Fantasy Tour. I did it last year and loved it.

The spa sounds nice as well.

Heck, since it sounds like you're both kids at heart, I suggest you get a couple of appointments at the Bibbiddi Bobbiddi Boutique and get your hair and nails done princess-style :D
