Interesting topic got brought up recently while watching an old animated film The Adventures Of Ichabod And Mr. Toad.
The first half, Mr. Toad's story, there is a clear hero and villain. You know who's good and you know who's bad. Though in the second half, the story of Ichabod Crane, something hit me at the end of that tale. Does that story pull a switch-aroo on us, making you think one is a hero all along when he truly isn't? I'm talking about the main "protagonist" Crane and his rival, Brom Bones aka The Headless Horseman. Brom seems to be the bad guy. Heck, he even inspired the creation of Gaston's character years later. But is Brom really bad and is Crane really good?
I'll explain my thoughts behind this later, and why I'm thinking we've been viewing this classic story upside down all these years. But first I'm just curious to other people's thoughts on this who are familiar with the story.
