I know its not at Disney World, but has anyone been to Ice at the Gaylord Palms resort? I saw the advertisement for it and it looks really cool (no pun intended). My family and I will be going down at Christmas time and this might be something we want to check out. Has anyone ever been to it before? Is it worth the money? Is it usually really crowded? If we were to do it, how much time should we plan on being there? Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you go during the week when local schools are in session, it won't be that bad. If you go when the world is here for the holidays, it will be very crowded.

Remember, you have to wear shoes! No sandals or flops!

I went last year for the first time when I had some friends visiting in early December. We went during the week and as noted above the crowds were very light. From what I've been told by other locals, if you go in late afternoon to evening or the weekend it can be pretty busy but if you go early in the day on a weekday there should be no worries.

You will indeed want to wear closed toe shoes and long pants. The air temperature is well below freezing throughout the entire exhibit. They will give you a long insulated overcoat with a hood to wear to keep you warm.

Definitely bring your camera since there are a lot of amazing and fun photo spots throughout. Kids (and adults alike) will like the ice slides near the end of the overall tour.

Also I seem to remember that if you buy the tickets online before you go, you can save a few dollars per person on the admission price as well.

Sometimes I forget that all of America isn't like living on the lakeshore of Lake Michigan, where you get buried under 3 ft of snow starting in October and lasting all the way to April... and snow is a fun, happy thing. :xmas: :brr:

some of my freinds have been to gaylord palms orlando and they have told me that it is one one of the finest resorts in the world, and this thanksgiving the chefs are planning some great dinner, so i guess it is the place to be at that time!

We were there this past week (16th). Crowds were light except a few school field trips with bus loads of kids. They all seemed to love the big slides. The displays are very nice. We wore shorts with the parkas they provide and were fine.(were used to cold) The hotel is very nice also.
