This question is kinda hard to answer but I'll try....Imagineers are not really maintenance if that's what you're trying to ask???
The resorts/each theme park has special ride & operation engineering maintenance teams that handle break downs and other glitches. You can find these jobs posted on Disney Careers from time to time. These teams may be lead by an Imagineer if maintenance comes up empty handed on certain technical problems (newer attractions). On some occasions WDI will fly Imagineers from Glendale over to Orlando if the problem is somewhat major seeing how most attractions are designed and fabricated in California and transported to Orlando. In some cases an Imagineer will train the maintenance teams and teach them how to deal with certain problems.
Each theme park has a team of onsite imagineering offices, these are usually small trailers (at the Magic Kingdom you can find one behind It's a Small World). The main WDI office in Orlando is over at Epcot right behind Test Track. Most cases are that these imagineers are working on new project developments and refurbishments of attractions and or areas. Imagineers do help with maintenance but the numbers of official imagineers assigned to each park are very slim.
One thing you need to know is the most Imagineers are based in Glendale California. There are imagineers in Orlando as well, but fewer. The disciplines of Imagineers at Orlando are more specified compared to ones in Glendale. As one imagineer explained it to me...most of the creative stuff is done out here in Glendale. Imagineering in Orlando is based more on land development/marketing/sales, project implementation and oversight, refurbishment and repair.
