I75 and bypasses

We are driving from Ontario this May but during the week. Is it worth taking the bypasses, I am thinking Cincinnati and Atlanta? I'd rather not have to stop to wait out rush hour but will if need to.

Around Atlanta it depends on the time of the day. If it's anywhere close to the AM/PM rush, then the bypass can get just as backed up. In general though, it's a better option than trying to go straight through downtown....

Most of the time we can take the hov lanes and works well until they end. I kind of thought they would get backed up as well and never took them before.

I almost always avoid I-285. Really the best thing would be to try and avoid busy times.

The construction south of the city on I-75 near McDonough has been awful in both directions the last few times I've driven into the city. I've been hopping off the Interstate near the south side of I-285 and taking Tara Blvd to Atlanta Motor Speedway and then cutting back east to the Interstate at Locus Grove.

Do you have Google Maps for one of your phones yet?
If so, just do what it says. It takes into account real-time traffic conditions and will re-route you accordingly if needed.

from Canada, the data charges are way too much for us to use our phones like that.
