Hey all.. I wrote my first photoshop tutorial. I wrote it for another forums... and even though it isn't for anything that complicated or something that I don't think would interest many on these boards Even though.. I'm still gonna post it.. lol... enjoy. You can read the original at: http://www.orlandoforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2511

the original post starts here:

Hey all. Today I was looking at some pics on cardomain and other sites. And as much as I like a lot of the cars, one of my pet peeves is when a car has it's license plate edited out poorly. Not because I want to know the plate number (frankly, I could care less about the number), but because most of the time, it is done so poorly, it actually detracts from the quality of the picture. Look at what I mean:

With that being said, I'm writing this tutorial on how to cleanly edit out license plate numbers so it doesn't detract. I am doing this tutorial on Photoshop 7 running in Windows XP Pro. For this I am going to edit 2 different pictures of cars with exposed license plates I've found on the internet.

Step 1- Open Photoshop

Step 2- Open the Image file

Step 3- Using the Eyedropper tool, select the background color of the plate.

Step 4- Using the Polygonal Lasso tool, select the numbers on the plate. If it is like a California or a New York plate, you will only have to do this once. If it is a Florida plate or another with a graphic in the middle, select the first 3 numbers, then hold down the shift key and select the other 3 numbers.

Step 5- Select the brush tool, select a fairly large solid round brush (19 px should be fine).

Step 6- Using the brush tool, color in the selected areass.

and voila, you're done!

yeah... it can be used for pretty much any application in which the clone stamp tool wouldn't be effective... or you don't have the time to clone 1 pixel at a time.
