I wish Universal owned DC Comics

Such a shame that everything DC is done at Six Flags. To think what Universal could do with the Dark Knight material is just frightening.

only thing is, I have no reason to fly 3 hrs from home to get rides I could have at Six Flags an hours drive. At the end of the day coasters are coasters, a quick thrill and that's about it. You know UNI wouldn't build theming around it, it would be a black and yellow coaster with loud speakers

Not necessarily. Look what they did with Spider-Man.

Very true...but I agree, Six Flags could be better.

If the parks were still owned by Time Warner they could have Wowed them with the plans before IT hit the fan and sold them to Premier Parks..Look at Warner Brothers Movie world on Google and see what Warner brothers can do with all of there franchises The right way.

What Universal parks are you visiting?

I keep giving IOA chances... it's the same old over and over. Coasters and 3D rides, loud colors and big speakers.

The only 3D ride is Spider-Man. Universal Studios has a few 3D attractions, but then again, so do the Disney parks.

Man, I'm going to Universal on Thursday, and I can't wait to get into Islands. Next to the Magic Kingdom, it's my favorite park in Orlando. The Popeye ride is the greatest raft ride I've ever been on. Rip Saw Falls, while lacking the theme of Splash Mountain, is tons more fun. Jurassic Park is done to perfection. WWOHP has 2 (actually 3) great rides. Seuss Landing is the most crazily detailed land I've ever seen.

To each his/her own. There are people who won't set foot in Animal Kingdom, and I love it.

I would never sell Disney short on theming, but even they can't compete with Spider-Man, Hogwarts, or Jurassic Park.

getting D.C. was part of the original plans back in 1993. Don't know what happened. Imagine a Batman/Gotham dark ride? A REAL Krypton/Metropilis theme. Marvel is just too scientific for me. Spiderman has more in common with D.C. than the rest of Marvel

And the offerings of TDO is different than this? Show me the new innovative ride systems by...Six Flags please.
I can name several off the top of my head: log flumes, suspended roller coasters, inverted roller coasters and launched roller coasters. I believe the first "teardrop" loop also made its debut at a Six Flags park. Freefall attractions and drop towers also made their debuts in Six Flags parks. Not to mention the pay-one-price admission was first utilized by Six Flags. They were also integral in working with B&M in perfecting the design of the Stand-up roller coaster (though stand-ups were already manufactured, this would be an enhancement).

Yeah I guess I should have specified current or recently current projects. I also wonder how much of that ingenuity came from Six Flags engineering and design. Debuting a ride at a park doesn't necessarily make it a creative force, it just shows there willing to buy off the shelf year in and year out and struggle to stay a float. It's also pretty easy to be the chain that "debut" everything when at its height had 30+ parks to fill with new attractions.

Because Universal is all coasters and never themes anything? Like Six Flags, except farther away?

Can you try being less absurd?

Yeah, IOA has too many coasters. Just like Magic Kingdom, which has the same number of them. 3-D rides? IOA has one 3-D attraction. One. And it's arguably the best ride in the park (or anywhere.)

Loud colors? The colors are perfectly appropriate for their respective settings. Would you prefer if Seuss Landing were black and brown? That sounds whimsical. As for having "big speakers," I'll send Universal a message telling them how you find their sound system intimidating and would prefer something more dainty.

I swear...

Sorry dude. You're a good guy, but you're way off there. IOA is not only the most fun theme park in Orlando, it's one of the most atmospheric. It has it's weak points. Rip Saw Falls is a blast, but looks like crap. And on Dragon Challenge, you can see all the construction. But at least the construction they're doing will be done in a matter of months, not years.

yeah, I just didn't feel like dealing with that other dude.

But honestly, they are making leaps and bounds but WDW (as a whole resort and package) is the supreme king

Of course it is. I wouldn't deny that. I will say this - If Disney were more compact and easier to get around like Universal is, no way would it take more than a week to do. Walt bought all that land hoping it would continue to grow. TDO is using the land as an excuse for people to stay longer, as it takes so much longer to get from Point A to Point B than it does at Universal.

I believe, if Universal had the space Disney does, by now, they'd probably have 5 or 6 theme parks up. Universal is pushing the envelope. Disney is sitting on it.
