We are anual passholders for The Walt Disney World Resort theme parks. Recently I have decieded that a trip to the park that started it all would be great. The only problem is that the WDW resort is has so much to offer that my parents are skeptical about DL. My mom has been there once and thinks that Harbor Blv. is still there. She says the castle is too small and thinks that all the rides are like the Magic Kingdom. They also see DCA as MGM in a nutshell. Please help me! I really want to go but how can i convince my family?

Ah but Disneyland IS different from the Magic Kingdom. Check the Disneyland Resort website.

Rides that are different then what we have-

it's a small world (holiday edition and somewhat different)
The Haunted Mansion (holiday edition)
Pirates of the Caribbean (longer)
Jungle Cruise (different)
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (different)
Splash Mountain (different)

and there's some more too.

Rides that DL has that we used to have or don't have-

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride!!!
The Enchanted Tiki Room
Indiana Jones Adventure
The Walt Disney Story featuring Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln
Tarzan's Treehouse
Autotopia
Storybookland Canals
Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin
Pinnochio's Daring Journey
Matterhorn Bobsleds
Jolley Trolley
Goofy's Bounce House
Gadget's Go Coaster
Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes
Sailing Ship Columbia
Alice In Wonderland
Casey Jr. Circus Train

Rides/Attractions that we have from other parks that are around DL-

Innoventions
Star Tours
Honey, I SHRUNK The Audience

(Don't forget that DL's Toontown is a lot different and better.)

Attractions DCA has that we have-

Muppet*Vision 3D
It's Tough To Be A Bug
Who Wants to Be A Millionaire-Play It!
Playhouse Disney-Live on Stage!
Soarin' Over California (coming soon!)

And of course we don't have a single other DCA attraction.

See! Those are some reasons. You can say you'll be able to experienced extinct attractions from WDW, take on a lot of new attractions and a new park, and just be where it all began!:D

Thanks nemorocks, i think that i may be able to convince them when we go to see Wishes and Spectro. on Saturday. I hope, they always seem more open in a Disney theme park (maybe it's the pixie dust.) Does anyone elso have anything to add?

And don't forge the most important thing of all. If it wasn't for Disneyland and it's phenominal success. there would be no WDW or Tokyo DL or Paris DL. Disneyland is the Grandfather of all Disney Theme Parks. Everything started right here. Yes, it is smaller and more compact, but that makes it much more unique and "family" feeling. I grew up at Disneyland haveing gone since opening day (I was 13 on the same day that Disneyland opened) and have been to WDW three times. Once when it first opened, once in1989 and again in 1999. I find WDW a nice place to visit, but not as "Pleasant" as Disneyland. It seems less rushed out here and more intimate. I have lots of friends and people who are visiting and report back to Mouse Pad's Disneyland forum about how much they loved Disneyland. Some even liked it better just because it is smaller and more easily navigated.

I really hope you convince them to come out and see where it all started. And Harbor Blvd has been completely re-landscaped and now, as with all the streets around the Park, look spectacular and really do compliment the Resort. We have a nice Downtown Disney too. And, really, DCA is not all that bad. Not perfect, but nice.
