Just thought of this now!!:hammer:

Read at some stage that the torch lighting ceremony had been cut at the Polynesian but we were eating at 'Ohana on our last trip and just happened to arrive as it started, it was brilliant and really adds to this great resort:sohappy:

When did it return??

And is the fire eater the same guy who performs at SOA???

From what I understand it was cut when the percussionist retired and brought back when a suitable replacement was hired.

Really? I thought it was cut because TDO needed the extra money to go fishing for bottlenose dolphins?

As for it coming back...we weren't mentioning good things about Disney during that time. :lookaroun

I remember the very long thread about it being discontinued and the very very short thread about its return.

That doesn't surprise me.

It was during that time that even park hour extensions were being mocked as a bad thing around here.

Anything remotely positive or logical was quickly buried.

True but that is pretty typical and nothing unique to Disney or this forum in particular.

People like the controversy that comes from individuals that are ignorant of the facts speculating about what happened. When the holes get filled in and the boring reality is revealed they just quietly pack up and go home.

Just about a week or so ago the "happy meal not getting mold on it for 6 months" was all the rage. People we outraged, McDonalds was putting all sorts of toxic chemicals in their food, blah, blah, blah. When people with a brain were finally able to shout louder than the din of the fear mongering morons and it was revealed that you can do the exact same thing with any hamburger the story just vanished. McDonalds making frankenfood was more interesting than there was not enough moisture for mold to grow and it just turned into happy meal jerky.

Way to go Disney! :sohappy: It's great to hear that as easy as it would have been, they didn't let this magical experience go the way of the Skyway.
