Hey Universal friends! I need advice on my 2026 Trip to 'ORLANDO' (note I didn't say "my Disney Trip") It started out including DIsney's Magic Kingdom, then it went to just Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. And now its just Universal, Sea World and Wild Florida. A little info on our group...we are all over 50, most like thrill rides, So my questions are...
#1- Should we go to Universal Studios or IOA?(for the best rides)
#2- Any other activities around Orlando that we should plan?
#3- Any Dinner shows that are good? (we were planning on Capone's, but they seemed to have closed when they relocated???)

Or anything else you think we should see or do?

Thanks, friends!

In my humble opinion:

#1-Islands of Adventure is better than Universal Studios in almost every way.
#2-Driving past the giant gift stores and tourist traps on International Drive is always fun, It also has icon park which has some good places to eat and check out if you have a free day in Orlando, and for Wild Florida, If you've never done an Airboat ride, I highly recommend that!.
#3-I'm not very familiar with the dinner shows in Orlando, but I remember doing Medieval Times a few years back and having fun there.

Also Old Town on 192 near Disney is another kind of tourist trappy thing, but kind of fun for one evening, looking through the shops and they have a few carnival rides.

Over many trips to Orlando, sometimes when I visit the touristy places that are not Universal or WDW, such as any kind of dinner show, I've tended to feel a little bit let down.

WHEN in 2026 are you planning to visit? My suggestions will vary a little by season.

3. Many of the non-WDW/Uni places I've really enjoyed are some of the more natural places to visit. As others have said, airboat rides are really fun. I also greatly enjoyed Silver Springs State park. If you go there, do the glass bottom boat tour, and take time to see the little exhibits for the history of the place. Towards Tampa, Honeymoon Island is really neat: beaches, shells, wildlife. For a day trip 3.5 hours south of WDW, drive/day trip to the Everglades and Big Cypress NP. You can drive through some parts, or walk around. (you don't have to venture far into the swamp for a fun visit) Though it is perhaps better to visit in the cooler months. Also in the coolest months, FL has a number of places to see wild manatees.

1. I usually hop between the two. My favorite attractions are across both parks. Mummy and Minions are both favorites. I love the new Minions popsicles, they are excellent, and taste like fruit. Really delicious! On the IoA side, Spiderman is old-school Spiderman, but still amazing. I don't love Hulk, but I really like Velocicoaster! It is exceptionally well-designed, very smooth. Of course both Potter lands are great, but Diagon Alley is superior, IMO. The Bourne show and horror show are also fun.

If you have to choose just one park, then maybe choose the list of IP's that most appeal to you. Kong-Spiderman-Jurassic, or E.T-Men in Black-Minions. OH- if you do visit the studio park, make sure to walk through the Wicked store and the tribute store if there is one that coincides with your visit. I would say though, the water rides in Islands get riders rather wet, that will be more appealing in summer and less appealing in winter.

3. Sorry, I can't really help on #3. If you like nice dining though, the area has a number of solid choices.
