I need suggestions

We are coming from Baton Rouge, La I would like to know the best way to travel. I already know that the trip by car is going to be 12 1/2 hours from what I've researched. Are their any other routes?
Also we're planning our trip for Dec 20-December 30 and I would like to know do anybody have any website mostly unofficial with pictures of resorts and fun facts rates, maps or whatever is helpful.
It is going to be seven of us 4 adults, 1 teen (a child at heart; so I really consider her a younger child) 2 children ( 6 and 9 ). I was thinking about adjoing rooms @ one of the values or moderate. Because suites can be quite expensive. I'm open for any suggestions about anything and everything. This is my family first trip and we want to get the best out of everything. So help[ me please

I think you are right about going with several rooms at a value or moderate. However, you will be going at the most expensive time of year, the holiday season. I'm afraid that on-site room discounts may be hard to come by. (those sites will give you an idea of room rates)

If you want to consider off-site, let us know. There are lots of vacation homes that are way cheaper than on-site places. Here is a link to one:

I hope you will have a good trip. Because you are going to be going durring the holidays it will be very busy, but still a lot of fun. Old Key West, Yacht and Beach, and the Boardwalk are my favorite moderate resorts. If you have any other questions just ask. OH yea it only takes around 10 hours for me to drive from Orlando to Thibodaux. I find it much easier to drive b/c you dont have to deal with not having a car when your down.

The key is to leave very early when I am traveling from Thib. to Orlando I leave around 5am .....it allows me to be out of New Orleans and Mobile before the morning traffic......then the rest is smooth sailing.

Just an opinion from another person in the Thibodaux area. It takes us between 10 to 12 1/2 hours. Depends how many times you need to stop. The 12 1/2 is usually going with multiple cars with bladders on different cycles. We also leave fairly early to get out of NO and Mobile. In Pennsacola the cops have been out in force everytime we pass through, so be careful.

You will also be going when the rates are the highest. I would suggest a value resort (Movies) with adjoining rooms. Don't forget the swimsuits, our kids swam almost everyday on our last trip in January.

Hi we go once a year from NY and drive! it takes us about 18-20 hours. we have 4 kids 9 7 4 9 months. we have driven the past 2 years. although my hubby was hesitant we had to save money somehow. the driving has been ok as long as they have a tv, videos,playstation, and food! my father has come with us the past few years do we are now 3 adults four kids. my best advice is stay at the all star with ajoining rooms. if you can get a good rate such as $50-70 a night it will cost $700.-$980. for both rooms. that is really a great deal. also, one room can act as sort of a quiet room. because we have a little one this works out great. while the other are horsing around the baby can still sleep. the same goes if my dad has had enough. hope you find this useful.

All of your suggestion are very helpful indeed. My family has never been to WDW and they want to get the best out of it. That's we I planned to stay on grounds. But I think next time we will stay off :animwink:

Curious, I grew up just east of Baton Rouge in Greensburg. I drove down twice in '96 and all I can say is...FLY IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT!!!! When you turn south headed to Orlando the road turns into one of the most boring stretches of road I've ever seen. When I went in '97 and again last December I flew and it was well worth it. Plus, you don't waste two days driving.

My wife and I loved watching Illuminations and cuddling close...maybe it was the sub-45 degree weather that night? No, really the entire experience is romantic. I'm assuming that you're a young lady, so the WDW experience won't be the exact same as it was for my wife and I. But there are a lot of wonderful things there to do.

You MUST ride the Tower of Terror!

A stroll on the Boardwalk is a must.

We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter and enjoyed taking a romantic stroll around the property.

Kiss a lot.

By the way, wear lots of LSU apparel. I met a lot of people because I wore something with LSU on it every day.
