I need help through a Disney cancellation....

I don't need technical help, but some moral support would be nice. I just had to cancel our May trip due to a new work assignment. I'm hoping we can go in October, but that will be a long shot. We haven't been to the world since March of '12, and I'm starting to have withdrawals. What are some things y'all do to ease the pain of a cancellation?

I would start planning your 2015 visit (it's never too early). With the money you saved not going this year (always thinking Disney), plan on doing something special such as something you have never done at Disney but always wanted to do. I have done something similar in the past. I cut back on a few days one year so we could do a longer visit and do the water parks the following year. Also, keep planning that trip in October. You never know. And I'll be there and perhaps we'll bump into each other.

I agree with Bocko57! I am planning a 2017 trip RIGHT NOW! it really keeps Disney in focus as you search different plans. Since you already had your May trip planned, just for fun, make another plan for October, but do a total 180 and do the opposite mode of transportation, and hotel stay. Keep it fresh and the months or years will fly by and it will be Disney vacation time once again!

I have thousands of picture from previsions visits. I use those to start planning my next trip and enjoy the memory that goes with them. If I cant be there physically I can be there mentally. Not to make you feel bad but I am making my FP+ selections for my May trip now.

Yah I agree, start planning your next trip, even if it is still kind of fantasy stage. And I have thought about organizing all my previous travel files and making them into something that maybe resembles a memory book...but haven't done that yet.
I am in withdrawls already too and I just got back and have a summer one booked but 5 months just feels like such a long time...
I am trying to refrain from showing up at WDW for that all nighter in May that I really want to go to...I need to save and pay bills for a few months...if you know what I mean:rolleyes:

Yeah, we just decided to put our house on the market, since we're outgrowing it quickly. We need a bigger, nicer home, so saving money is a must this year. I hate grown up stuff. :depressed: However, planning future visits is always a great distraction, along with reading these forums of course. ;)

We need time for things to happen.
I'm a half full type of guy and if you're glass is going to be half full you might want to make it full of what @BigTxEars suggested or another fine beverage of choice.

While your sipping on said beverage, let's start with some positive thinking..... the totally obvious and up side to this is the reason you're not going is because of a work assignment and not because:

1.You lost your job
2.Can't afford it
3. WDW blew up
4. Worsssssst of all someone near and dear is sick or dead

So that's my spin on this - Stay Positive. It sounds like you're thinking you may be able to finagle a trip in October? What more do you need? October is your new date....start planning. If that falls through and it's not one of the big 4 from my list above...set a new date.....so basically:

Rinse and repeat until you're standing on Main Street.

Coincidentally we ran into some serious financial difficulties just before our May trip two years ago. I WAS NOT HAPPY at first...but then we regrouped and managed to tighten the belts enough to work out a nice trip later that year at the end of September early October. Alls well that ends well.
