I need help planning!

hi! I've been to disney 7 times with my family but friends this time. I have a few questions. Is right after New Years a good time to go? What hotels are good for 4 teenaged girls(we want to stay on Disney property)? Will we be able to meet some guys around the same age as ourselves there(17-18ish)? Any other tips or suggestions welcome

Hi!

Hey Liz!

I also have been to WDW 7 times.......with family! (As a fellow 17 yr old), I would say that the Boardwalk resort is really lively in the evenings, so that would be a good bet to stay. Its definitely worth a visit any evening!

I would say that as long as have enough patience and $$$, then after New Year would be a cool time 2 go ( but I wouldn't recommend this time to someone who hasn't been to Disney b4). I know there are loads more events on at that time of year.

I suggest to avoid resorts that r a bit 'stranded', i.e. Caribbean Beach, Animal Kingdom Lodge. I love the WL but think about how quickly transport would take to get to Downtown Disney, for example.

When big groups (schools, etc.) go on trips to WDW, 99% of the time they stay at the All Stars so theres likely to be people your age. But personally I wouldn't choose to stay there.

The resorts connected by monorail are really convenient (GF, Poly, Cont.)
The Yacht and Beach Club resorts are within like a 5 min walk from the Boardwalk, really lovely, and have a great pool area!!

BTW, if you haven't done this b4, rent a water mouse boat from a MK resort. It was so much fun!!! Oh and the Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney is a must-visit.
Hope some of that was helpful!

If money is an issue, the All Star resorts are much more affordable. I'm staying at Boardwalk this time because I am now a DVC member but I have stayed at the All Star Music resort twice and found the accommodations more than adequate. You really only sleep at the resort anyway so why pay for a deluxe resort when you don't have to (unless someone else is footing the bill for you). You have two double beds in each room (more than enough sleeping space for 4 teenage girls). Value resorts are $77 - $87 per night whereas Boardwalk would cost you $289 - $360 per night. I'd rather pay for the cheaper room or 2 rooms at the value resort than the rate at Boardwalk.

I had a blast meeting guys at WDW when I was a teenager in the 80's. Most of the guys we met were cast members. When you and your friends are getting on the rides, the cast members can be pretty flirty. We loved it and will never forget how many guys we actually met at Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Tomorrowland Speedway, etc. They had started talking to us first and it was a great!

We are def. makin a trip to Boardwalk at night! I would probably stay at Port Orleans or maybe All Star. My friend wants all star but I'm liek nnoo too crazy. LOL! And PO has 2 sinks and mirrors. I dont want to get into a fight over that. Good to hear that there it will be a good place to have fun and meet guys. I know last year a cast member was talkin to me in his shop and gave me a bunch of mickey stickers. I came back later in the day but he left :(

Ahh...to be young again....oh well....After New Year's is a good time to go as crowds will be light. There may be an influx of visitors for the WDW Marathon that takes place around that time. You may want to check on dates for that event.

I agree that the All Stars or Pop would be the best place to stay as they are the most affordable for teenagers. As far as meeting people your age....pools and waterparks are a good bet. Although at that time of year it will be cool/cold. DisneyQuest is another good bet or any arcade at any resort or theme park. In and around any thrill attraction would also be a good bet.

good luck to you and travel safely.
