I hope this is the right place for this?

:wave:This is my very first post, and I am not sure if this is the right place for this question, but it does involve my trip planning so I will give it a try.:veryconfu I have been a lurker FOREVER, and I finally have enough guts to join in.:)

We have booked a trip using the free dining pin code for these days 9/26-10/3. I understand that it still is hurricane season, but would like to know alittle more about the heat and humidity, and my most important question is the crowds. Last year, we went the first weekend after labor day. It was DEAD! My family absolutely loved the world, and since we have little kids (4 & 1) the wait times are very important to us, and since there were hardly anything at all that week, I would like to try to swing short lines again. I would like to go when the food and wine festival is going on, but not for the sake of 1 hour ride lines, more crowded character waits.... Please help me make sure I pick the best week. I love disney, and we just thought it might help us alittle by not being soooo hot and also it would be a plus for us to be there during the food and wine festival.

Any help would be great, you guys know everything, and can be soooo informative.

Crowds will likely be a bit more than your week after Labour Day experience but not too bad. F&W does attract some people. It should still be OK.

Hurricane season goes from early August until November I think, but really isn't something to worry about. If a hurricane is headed for WDW, they do everything possible to protect you. Normally though, it's just a lot of rain and wind on the outer fringes of a hurricane that get to WDW. Wear a poncho and get a bit wet... You can still have a great time.

You picked an all around great time to go. I've been during basically the same time of year the last 3 years. Have never needed long pants and rain has never really been a factor. Crowds are'nt too bad, the big attractions might have a libttle bit of wait but not too bad. Save room for the F&W offerings :slurp: See ya down there, I'm going the day after you.

I second the great time of year pick. It truly is, crowds are thin. You may expierence longer waits at the bigger attractions. Food and Wine Festival does bring in the crowd but it is mostly in the evenings on the weekends and only in Epcot.

The weather, thats the issue. It is VERY HOT and Humid and I grew up in Texas. It drains me and I go back to the hotel in the heat of the day for a break.

Welcome to the Boards

Oh good THANK you so much! I was worried about going during that time of year. Not really cause of hurricane season, but we sooooo enjoyed just walking onto rides. And i was just trying to figure out if crowd levels were going to be bad during the food and wine festival. I cant wait to go during the food and wine thing. We were hoping it might be a tad cooler since it was alittle later in the year since last time, but we take what we can get.

Really thank you guys for giving me somekind of idea and hinesight. I appreciate it. My DH was worrying that we were trading 5 minute wait times for the festival. And even though I am a MAJOR foodie, it doesnt mean that I want to stand in line for hours waiting on dumbo. :hammer:

We were there that weekend after Labor Day last year too. We've gone to Disney a number of times in Sept., and have never seen the parks that slow. My other trips in Sept - spread during different times of the month have had a little more crowds but still very slow and very managable. Sept 2008 was unprecedented though. I remember being on Big Thunder Mountain around 2PM and there were only 6 of us in the whole train!! For that particular time last year there were 2 major hurricanes that threatened that area, the economy was starting to slow down, and the time immediately after Labor Day tends to be a little more slow.

You should love it in later Sept. too, but don't expect to have the park to yourself as much. Based on my other Sept. trips, expect to add 5-10 minutes to your wait times for the more popular attractions this year. But if the economy still sucks and the hurricanes threaten again we may own the parks again.... I'm going the end of Sept. this year also.

Space Ranger, isnt it kinda neat that we will be back down there the same time of year again??:ROFLOL: I am not as worried now, as early. I know that I would have felt good about going down there not having some kind of idea of crowds, and thinking oh great I will get to have tons of fun & food in epcot, but the kids are going to have major meltdowns because the wait times are soooo dang long.. Ya know? Anyway, now on to the fun stuff planing planing planing. :p It is good to know that I am not the only one who had trouble with the weather. I dont know if it was the heat that would wear us down, but more on the humidity... We had really really hard times with that, and we are from Arkansas. Where we went from 84 degrees today to a chance of sleet Tueday. HAHAAAAA

On another note, I do remember all the hurricane worries.. That week we were there. I thought that we seemed really lucky not ever even waiting for DUMBO! We loved it. Hope all have a good and same upcoming trip.

Hello , we usually go Sept/Oct and have always had a great time - not too crowded; lots going on - F&W and MNSSHP - the parks look fab for Halloween. Have a fab time (we're there at the same time.)
