Seeing I'm the CPO (chief planning officer) for my family I get a sudden case of the nerves on booking day! Have I booked the right place? Have I allowed enough time? Etc, etc.....Not to mention the large chunk of money of will cost. Am I crazy or is this normal?

Normal. And as I always tell my family (read: husband) if you don't give input in the planning you have no right to complain later.

I'm the same way, I called in a reservation for the Contemporary last april. Once I was able to book the entire package recently, I was struck with indecision. We're still staying at the Contemporary but we gave the Poly a serious re-look (as noted by my threads in the forum ;) ) Still after some more research, my wife, and kids all agreed that the Contemporary is what we all want to stay at.

Also on the budget, its crazy how much WDW vacations cost. I priced out a Disney Cruise and it was thousands of dollars cheaper (admittedly we're staying in WDW for 9 days vs. a 5 day cruise). I will be completely honest though and say that if Disney keeps reducing the incentives to stay onsite, we may stay at a resort off property after this next vacation comes and goes.

We are staying off sight for this trip. Seeing we'll be down for 3 weeks it was the only way to be able to afford it. Tonight is book the condo night (we've used the company several times before and always been happy) I'd rather be in the bubble the whole time but seeing we're going over to UNI to check out Potter I hope I'm booking enough time!

When we go it is always in the bubble and I have to agree with Captain America that the ability to move things around is amazing with Disney. The only "nerves" that we get go away completely when the balance due line reaches $0!! :)

We stay offsite at least once per year and never feel like we are missing anything. We like to do UNi. and SeaWorld and offsite works well for those trips. I have found a place we like a lot (though we both really like trying new places) and will be staying there for the third time soon. The bubble is fine, but not a thing wrong with staying offsite. I am our CPO as well, but I am just the opposite. I don't obsess or worry much about, and usually do our planning last minute as I find we get some good options that way. Now, with us not having kids, and a highly flexible schedule, that makes it easier to put off planning, and waiting without worry. Guess I am as laid back about planning as I am hanging by a pool reading a book. Speaking of books, I am right in the middle of an interesting one, "Water For Elephants."

I'm always the one doing the planning. But I check with DW to see what special things she wants to include in the plans. Then right after I book I'm always rethinking my decisions. But then after a moment I calm down, take a breath and say everythings going to be OK cause youve done it before and it has always worked out just fine. Even if I messed up somewhere...we're at Disney and we can deal with it. Not going to be the first or last time I blew a call and had to readjust things on the fly. And DW isnt one to blow her top when DH messes up. ;)
Trust yourself that you prepared well, and in the event you got something wrong, just relax, be flexible and have a plan B ready. You got 3 glorious weeks to enjoy yourselves. Its going to be fine.

I'm going through the booking day jitters right now. My husband and I are going this September, and now that 2016 rates are out, I'm really considering booking a solo trip (unless my mom or husband want to go with) for the beginning of September of next year. This would be the first time ever that I've gone to Disney World two years in a row! My major concerns are the money and place to stay. I was hoping that I could wait until October to try and rent DVC points for Bay Lake Tower, but I wanna' book now!!!

Could not have said it better! I am also the CPO for pretty much any trip(no matter where we go) and several years back, we would take our yearly trip to Laguna Seca/Monterey for the MotoGP series and I would find and book the room(this is the event that you book for the next year on the day you check out in the current year as price gouging had become ugly. $400/night for a Super 8? OY!) and try to find the closest, most affordable room for us and our 3-4 friends(sharing a room) and the second year we went, one couple did nothing but complain about the distance from the hotel to the track and the fact that CA was having a "heat storm" and temps were over 118* in Monterey which is unheard of but the previous year it was cold and foggy. All I heard all weekend was complaints about the ride, the weather(like I had any control over the weather or knew that it was going to be that hot and got a room 45min away on purpose), the lack of this, that or the other and the cost(again, this was not something new, they knew the cost ahead of time) and I told my husband that I would not be planning the following year and he wholeheartedly agreed with me so when we were checking out, I let our friends know and I set up a room for my husband and myself. The friends did not, I don't know if they thought I was going to give in and do it again for them or what and then 6mo later they were asking if they could share our room because they had not planned ahead. Nope. Not doing that ever again.

We have just booked for May of 2016 for our first trip to WDW and yes, I obsessed over where to stay(we stay at the Grand Californian when we go to DL) and should we do the dining plan(never have), CL or standard, you name it and my husband leaves it in my hands because he knows I am a planner and researcher. After 28yrs in the AF and now in a career at a refinery, the last thing he wants to do is plan and research his vacation. LOL

I have some jitters with this trip because it is a mod due to a conference. I was trying to make a split stay with CR, but hubs finally gave an opinion that he would rather stay in one place. A little weight of my shoulders!

This is the first time I'm planning our trip, and I've already switched resorts once, and depending on what the room discounts look like, I might do it again!
I think depending on the time of year you go, the incentives are like 25 to 30 percent for deluxe resorts, 20% for moderate and less then that for the value resorts.

I personally don't like switching resorts unless there's a big reason - I get nervous of a mess up occurring. I like to keep things simple and hopefully that means a more enjoyable stay :)

Yeah, the numbers are pretty consistent, but we're at POFQ and I know it's harder to get a discount there. So if we can get a discount at a different moderate, but not at POFQ, we might switch. Plus I know for the current room-only offer POFQ was excluded for the first two weeks, and our dates would be the first week of the new offer. So we shall see :)
