I have no ADRs...will this be a problem?

Hi....new member here and this is my first post. I'm off to Disney World from 9/13-9/18 for a girls' trip (just two of us). I was reading another thread about cancellation fees for ADRs and I have to ask this question: if we have not made any ADRs are we going to be able to eat in any of the restaurants on short notice walk ins? We plan on doing dinner somewhere in Epcot every night and if all else fails, we'll wander around the Food and Wine Festival for dinner. I've noticed that there are still spots open in a lot of the Epcot restaurants that week, but I hate the idea of having to be somewhere at a certain time on vacation.

Most of the Epcot restaurants should have openings. Forget Le Cellier in Canada. Little chance there. DHS and MK restaurants usually fill up. Plenty of decent table service to choose from though.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
It is best to at least make some of your ressies, or you may have to eat at the less desirable places with so so food. The favorites with the best food tend to book up solid ahead of time. I personally never would take the chance to not make any ressies. If your okay though with eating at mediocre places and have that expectation that may happen then it will be okay. Also it still is very possible most restaurants will not take walk ups so just be prepared for that. There is a lot of great QS places as well as an option. Oh and also are you on the dining plan b/c if so you are taking the chance losing valuable TS credits. Even if you got the dining plan "free" it's really not because you take that instead of a room discount so it's a loss of money if you don't use all the credits esp the TS ones. :)

If you're not on the Dining Plan, you really don't have to worry. There are plenty of places to eat at EPCOT. You likely won't get walk-up at Le Cellier or Chefs, but most everywhere else it'll be available with varying lengths of wait. Failing that, there are lots of quick-serve options that are quite good [Sunshine Seasons is wonderful] and as you mention, with Food and Wine going on, you can always find a bite.

With two people it shouldn't be much of a problem, though as Texas pointed out, Le Cellier is the exception.

Biergarten is often overlooked if you're wanting a table-service restaurant, assuming you're fine with the communal seating system there. With just two people you've got a pretty good shot at getting seated as walk-ups.

If you can handle spicy food, I think your optimal solution might be Tangieriene Cafe at Morocco. Their shawarama platters rival a lot of the nicer table-service dishes at the showcase and their outdoor seating area is pretty awesome, especially at night.

Also, don't forget that there are a lot of really cool resort restaurants you can reach via the international gateway at Yacht/Beach and the Boardwalk. Kouzzina, Big River, and Beaches and Cream are all a lot of fun, especially when EPCOT itself gets too crowded.

Just stay away from Lotus Blossom Cafe.

ressies?

Le Celllier. I went one time. made my res. 180 days out. I had to call early in the morning exactly 180 days out to get in. But what a disappointment. I've had a better meal at my local Steak place.

But other than that, I have gone without ADRs before and never had a problem getting a place to eat. I also hate having to be somewhere at a certain time.

By my calendar your trip is already over....what are your dates again?

We don't normally make ADRs, and have had no problems when we go during F&W. We always eat at off times which helps keep any waits we may have to a minimum.

am I the only one who noticed this or am I the one who is nuts?

you posted on 10/2 that you are going 9/13 to 9/18 ?
did you mean 10/13 or do you mean next year 9/13 to 9/18?
if you have a year notice, book ADRs!
if not, because of the food and wine festival, there should still be some opening at restaurant in world showcase, you could get a walk in most likely, if you really don't want to book

my best advice, do not use the food kiosks as an "if all else fails". we usually spend 6-8 hours eating our way around the world and make lunch and dinner out of a prolonged grazing episode. the variety outdoes any world showcase restaurant, the quality is very good and it is a unique experience

Yeah I'm confused, too. If the OP is going this month, there are no cancellation fees at non-signatures yet.

If you aren't too picky, you can almost always find a good place to eat without reservations. :)

Restaurant Marrakesh (Epcot) is my favorite dinner in all of WDW and rarely has long waits. :)

Liberty Tree is a good one to try in the MK.

There is always plenty of fast food, too.

Remember, too, that the popular restaurants aren't necessarily the best - just the most popular. Longhorn Steakhouse is better than Le Cellier, IMO. But Le Cellier is wildly popular. I'd rather eat in France, Morocco or even Germany than in Canada.

Many people who book these popular restaurants do it because others tell them to - they haven't actually eaten in all the WDW restaurants. So, the popular places really are popular just because they are and not because they're getting repeat business.

Good luck! :)
