I just got back from a trip to the mall. we went to the Disney store as we always do, and in view of the recent post about the Disney Store splitting, I asked a CM if she knew what they were going to become. She said they were not going to be converting that store into anything. Actually, they are going to be taking the store out altogether. Completely. No Disney Store of any kind. And their last day is next Saturday!! I am so sad about this! The next closest Disney Store is one hour away! How can they do this? She said the store is really doing well and making lots of money, so that is not it! We cried right there in the store with the CMs. I walked out with about $100 of stuff and will be back a couple more times before they close. I am so glad we are moving out of this stupid, stupid town! But Oct seems so far away!!!!!!

:( no disney store

how awful they closed the one closest to me already it was over 60 miles away ..and now the nearest is dallas. Its not the same ordering out of the catalog or off line I know .. there is just so much comfort in going in to a Disney store ..it helps between the trips to the world ... oh well cheer up think of all the fun you can have at Down town disney and DMV when you move down there!!

Whoa, major bummer. Our Disney store is our mini-Disney-fix. Its not the same as being there, but is as close as we can get. That's too bad.
So you are moving to Orlando for sure? Can't beat that!! I'd suffer w/o a store for a few months to be able to live close to Mickey.

The closest ones that are close to me are all 1 hour away. There are three of them, so hopefully at least one of them will stay open!!

I would take this with a grain of salt. Disney doesn't usually fool around with profitible ventures. Even a store manager won't know all the overhead and other costs associated with running a particular store. They may be bringing in lots of money, but how much is going out?

I worked at the Disney Store in White Marsh MD back in October. We were number 19 in the company. Our cloest store, which closed in January was close to 300. The stores suffered from too many with too small of a market. Many stores are being cut due to falling profit margins, and increasing rents. It's trully sad. But alas, Disney is based not only on a mouse but corporation and capital like most of our great American businesses.

Though it may seem like a shame or inconvence to us as individuals, if we look at the big picture, it's for the better.

But if you want to make a diffrence, go to your local Disney Store and Buy Buy Buy.

:p :p New pins come out every week.:p :p
