I Am Literally Crying - EPCOT Tribute

EPCOT seemed to have a different "feel" when it first opened and even into the 90s. It truly seemed to be a vision of the future with very little "Disney" in your face. Of course, it had all the components of a great theme park, but the focus was culture, innovation, and technology.

I don't hate it now. I still love EPCOT and all it has to offer. However, I notice I am less interested in the "newer" aspects of EPCOT than the older (few remaining) aspects.

I hate Frozen invading World Showcase. It wouldn't even have been a thought under the old theme of EPCOT.

Now, it's come one come all. I get that kids want more characters and you can sell more by incorporating more movies, characters, and "Disney" themed rides. I just miss the older feel with rides like Spaceship Earth and the Land.

You have stated this very well. Epcot Center was a different park altogether. I agree with everything you've said.
(...still love the park, but...)

At least The Land Pavilion didn't have disgraceful results. It's the most well kept pavilion in Future World.
Agree.

However, I feel like it's only given love because Soarin' is there and Disney actually has a vested interest in making that area look good. So many people go through there to ride Soarin', it can't be a disgrace.

Well Soarin has done the attraction well, to bad the seas doesn't have an IMAX ride, then Soarin would be relieved a bit . Besides that Soarin fits and the future plans will only make it better.

It's amazing how much nostalgia i get from this, because the first time i went to Epcot was 3 years ago. I still "miss it", even though I never got to see it. I wish i was alive back then so I could experience all those classics. Thanks for the vid.

I used to think it would be a ridiculous idea, but seeing similar reactions to how I feel changes my mind.

How much traction do you think an entire land, maybe not a whole park, but a land devoted to old rides from the past? Horizons, Imagination, World of Motion, Dream Flight, Cranium Command, etc would be all brought to life purely from nostalgia. They would never change.

I know you couldn't keep everything old, but wouldn't this be a draw for Disney enthusiasts? There seem to be a growing number of us demanding this content.

The Communicores used to be so much more than what they are now today. I miss them.

Now they are far too often off theme additions (saving money and fire safety? What does that have to do with technology?), video game walls, and empty presentation slots.

They used to be so vibrant and alive.

That construction montage about 12 minutes in is just great. It really captures how much effort and detail was put into the original park, and how alive and beautiful it really was in it's heyday.

It's still a neat park, but a pale shadow of what it once was.

That chinese dragon reminds me of how much streetmosphere they had back then. I'm glad some of it seems to be coming back, but I'd love to see the "Chinese New Year" celebration with the dragon come back for the China pavilion, as well as the bagpipers. It's also amazing how green and lush everything was at World Showcase (now the unused pavilions are forested).
