The Hampton Inn in Santee is very nice...they have a large breakfast buffet in the mornings (Free of charge). They are usually located near the exits on I-95. If you belong to AAA you get a discount. We drove down last spring break and wanted to drive straight thru....will NEVER do this again. There is so much truck traffic and construction we ended driving for 15 hours with very short breaks and then had to stop. It is very nerve wracking and you will be exhausted. Take your time and you will arrive in WDW in a much better mood.

There is a full assortment of chain hotels/motels at the Florence exit. There is allso an assortment of fast food restaurants. From Florence there are about 6 hours to Orlando. Depending on how you drive.

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Point South, SC twice on our way to WDW. Quite nice and there is a good local restaurant a block away. Check it out at Holiday Inn's web site.

I have stayed in Savannah, GA, which is just across the SC/GA border, and is only about 4 hours to WDW.

If you choose to stay there, do not stay at the Comfort Inn & Suites. The management is a mess!

I arrived there at Check in time, and was told I would have to wait another hour, as their entire housekeeping staff had just walked out on them. Additionally, check in took about half an hour. This all after driving 1200 miles and 21 hours straight through from Maine!

A few days later, I was checking on my credit card, and found out that they charged me twice. It apparantly was from the half hour check in process! So, on the way home from WDW, I had to stop there all over again, and have them fix it!

The property was not listed in AAA Tour Book, and I now use that as my Bible when I travel.

On a good note, there are plenty of other nice properties off exit 93 in Savannah that are listed in the AAA Tour Book.

But DO NOT stay at the Comfort Inn & Suites!

My recommendation is to stay in the Hilton Head area....If you are looking for cheap, the Fairfield Inn is right off the main road and is reasonable. Depending on time of year, you might find a cheap room on the ocean. Summer would be a bad time to look there. Hilton Head is one of my favorite places to visit..good restaurants, well maintained island, golf....it's about 20 miles from I-95.....Whatever you do, don't stay need the NC/SC border area...very bad area......high crime....of course, a lot of hotels off interstates are that way....have fun....
