I'm watching the weather right now.....I sure hope nobody had any vacation plans to New Orleans over the next....oh.....3 years. They may have to remove NO from the maps after this thing. Scary.

i heard several of the castles spires were blown off and were headed strainght towards some orfans. Iger and Matt Ouimet were said to have saved the children. There is suspicion that Eisner is responsible...

It's terrible isn't it. I hope everyone in that area stays safe.

As for the thread...there was no damage in the WDW area. The hurricane wasn't close enough for there to be problems.

They've opened the stadium for the poor locals to take shelter. The rest are being forced out of town. The ones refusing to leave obviously don't appreciate the severity of this storm. LA, or even the US, hasn't seen one like this for nearly 50 years, so they say. Bummer.

The huricane went through Broward and Miami/Dade counties.... not even close to Disney, so no. maybe they got some rain, but other then that the winds wouldn't have even been any stronger than a typical thunderstorm.

I live about 40 miles due north of New Orleans, and the fun is just beginning. I hope everyone that left the area headed to Disney has a great time, it's a great way to keep your minds off this storm. I know cause I did the same for Ivan last year. Everyone keep us in mind down here. Thanks.

Well, Nola, I wish you the best in getting through this one. I don't think I'd be able to go to WDW and have a good time during the storm if I knew when I went home, I would have no home..... They're not anticipating any wood structures to be left in New Orleans after this storm. And the river and lake will go over their levees and flood the entire town, about 10' deep. :(

Yep the city won't fair well. We should be ok where we are, in the country, no trees around the house, and on top of a hill. People laugh out here and say that it would take 40 days and nights of rain to get us. I hope that is true. The sad thing about this is how over the years people have talked about the 'big one' hitting New Orleans. People thought it would never happen, and here it is. I just can't believe from the local news reports of all the people that have chosen to stay below I-12 here in Southeast Louisiana. I work in the Gulf of Mexico in the oil industry, hopefully things will get back to normal in the next month.

I don't think you have to worry about water...but watch out for the 165 mph winds!

I hate to see what the gas prices do now that the oil rigs have all ceased operation in the Gulf.

You know I saw a documentary years ago on one of the channels, Discovery or National Geographic, not sure. But it was so freaky and stands out in my mind because of them showing computer animations of what would happen to New Orleans when the big storm hits. Scientists on that show predicted the Ms River would change directions and lose the crescent to become straight. This would take out the French Quarter permanently. It is haunting me tonite as I watch the news over there. There are still homeless people laying on benches by the river refusing to leave. They are crazy not to take advantage of the Superdome tonight.
