How's CoP been doing crowd wise?

Haven't been to the world for quite a few months, was wondering how the Carousel of Progress has been doing crowd-wise and if the theaters have been having good attendance? Thanks!

Went on it Friday around 10:30-11:00 am and it was walk on with about 1/10th of the theater filled if I had to guess.

It was my first time riding it and it was AMAZING. So glad I went on it! However, you could tell it was underperforming to the public. Even the CMs seemed droopy. One had their sunglasses on like they didn't want to be seen lmao

First time riding it and you're an expert on its OHRC?

You do realize that CoP packs in tons of people at once, right?

OHRC?

I never said I was an expet of anything. From what I saw in my theather it was 1/10th full and math is my thing. It's not too hard to guess.

Back to the original question....

I tried this ride with my girls a couple of years ago (they were 7 & 10 at the time) and they loved it and have to go on it every trip. I liked it as well and the reason I did not try it sooner is because I did not know what it was as there really is no grand entry or signage that pops out at the guest. I have never been on the ride with more than just a few dozen guests so that is sad to see.

Operational Hourly Ride Capacity

Taking one time on the ride and judging how that attraction is doing by that is not only incorrect, but its pretty dumb. Or should we still be judging Potter by the 16 hour wait? Or because I can get onto Soarin' at park open in less than 5 minutes, its always a 5 minute wait, right? I mean, thats the logic we're using, correct?

Does CoP pack the theater? No, barely ever does it do that. Maybe Christmas, New Years. Thats about it. But a few things to keep in mind about the Carousel:

1 - Its the classic attraction. No other attraction carries "Walt Disney's" in its name. Not even iasw.
2 - Big theaters. Multiple shows at once.
3 - It used to be seasonal. Meaning - its ridership was so low, just a few years ago, that it didn't even operate most of the time. Now it does.

Thats all I have to say. Just don't tell us how badly its doing based on one time.

Edit: To make it clear, I'm not talking about the 1/10th full. I'm talking about the 'underperforming to the public'. Thats a statement that only someone with a little experience in judging these things should make.

I never said it wasn't classic. At all. In fact, I absolutely loved it. And what does it being seasonal have to due with this?! lmao, talk about overreaction?

1/10th of the theater is not a lot IMO and if I had to guess based on using my calculation I'd say around 216 per hour ride it. And around 11am is when the most amount of guests are in the park at one time (or so I've heard from workers in the parks). So, that's my calculation from someone who experienced it 5 days ago.

Whether I rode it 1000 times or 1 time it doesn't matter- let some veteran tell you if you don't believe me.

I don't think Scar said anything wrong. They went on the attraction in the morning...the theater to them was about 1/10th full. The CM to them didn't seem to be that motivated. I would assume they walked past the CoP at another time while doing other things in Tomorrowland, and noticing no large lines, feeling that it was underperforming compared to the other rides in the area.

The CoP was made to pack in a lot of people, sadly this "people eater" process, causes few long lines, causing many people to think the ride is closed or not worth seeing. Many people just don't know what it is. It really could use more advertising or being featured somehow.

It's the oldest attraction in all of WDW. It's the only attraction in WDW with a direct tie to Walt Disney. It like some of the MK's other classic attractions, was made by Walt Disney's original Imagineers. It is the only Disney attraction to be transported three times. It is the longest running stage show in the history of American theater, and is the only rotating theater left in the world.

I wish the CoP could have as much of a popular classic status at the enchanted tiki room at Disneyland. I don't think the CoP will ever reach HM or PoTC status....there just isn't enough in it to do that, but Disney really needs to work on advertising, and quite frankly has to redo the show.

The 1994 show in my opinion is the worst version of the CoP....sure it brought back "beautiful tomorrow", but the script, the instrumental music, just isn't that great, and it's been over 10 years now since the last scene received an entire overhaul.

I have no idea what direction tomorrowland will take or if it will ever go back to the sci fi community, because they really could have tied it in with the rest of tomorrowland '94 with redoing the facade, and adding in some signs and other features of it being presented by the "Tomorrowland Metro Retro Historical Society".

The ride is classic, it's very walt disney, and it has a lot of potential, but it needs some "umph" and TLC kicked into it. Luckily some cosmetic improvements have happened to it on and off over the last couple years.

The Carousel in Fantasyland is actually the oldest ride in the park...

Well correct me if I am wrong, but if we are solely talking about the original 1971 attractions then shouldn't Small World, Peter Pan, Snow White, Dumbo, Mad Tea Party, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise and Country Bear Jamboree be included in it?

I've realised my statement was misleading. The carousel in fantasyland is the oldest attraction in all of WDW, the actual carousel was made decades before WDW opened, but it was purchased by Disney and parts of it were tweaked. The CoP is the oldest Disney created ride in all of WDW and is the only attraction in all of WDW to have a direct tie to Walt Disney himself, while many of the 1971 attractions were made by Disney's original Imagineers, just as the CoP was for the 64 world's fair. So yes the fantasyland carousel predates the CoP, but the fantasyland carousel was not a disney created ride from start to finish.
