How will Space Mtn. Rehab affect traffic in the MK?

I am planning a trip to WDW this June. With the normal crowd levels (assuming they are normal), it is imperative to have a plan for touring the parks to maximize your attraction exposure. I am curious how a headliner attraction (like Space Mountain) being down will effect (or is it affect, I'm never sure on that one :hammer:) the traffic pattern and touring in general for the MK. Usually, the morning crowds go one of three ways: Space Mountain, Splash/Big Thunder, and Fantasyland. With one third of the major draw gone, what will happen with the crowds? Will twice as many people head for Splash/Big Thunder? Will these people split evenly between the remaining mountains and Fantasyland? Will this make the "right hand" touring rule of going to the right and then counter-clockwise around the park really work? I'm just looking for speculation, obviously. But if anyone has thoughts or experience with park traffic when a huge draw is down, I'd love to hear it.

At this point, all we can do is speculate. This long a refurb. of THE headline attraction at MK hasn't been seen yet. It will affect (it's not a special effect), all areas of MK, espically the other mountains. Tomorrowland will still get a great deal of visitors though, espically with Buzz, and the New Stitch show opening soon.

I would expect heavier traffic in most all directions.

We are going in June too! Our plan is to go early into MK two different days (at least). With one day specificially going to Splash/BT area first. The second day going specifically to Fantasyland. I expect it will definately affect the flow and crowds the entire day. Space is a big draw, I also think we will see Fast Passes for other rides run out earlier...since SM was a big FastPass attraction.

But who really knows, maybe people really are staying home, saving their money, vacationing closer to home and the crowds won't be as large as past summers.

...will effect (or is it affect, I'm never sure on that one :hammer:)

Actually, it depends on usage (and with the two words being so similar, it's not surprising that people get them switched around sometimes).

Space Mountain's closure will affect the crowd patterns.
Space Mountain's closure will have an effect on the crowd patterns.

I'm sure there's some grammatical term for each usage, but I wasn't that good in those classes in school. :)
I sometimes have trouble with further/farther in some situations.
