How to Shoot Stage Show

I have a Sony DSC-V1 Digital Camers that I am using but can't get the hang of low light shots. I want to shoot a stage show and am fearful the photos are going to come out blurry and yellow because of the lighting and fast action.
Does anyone have a recommendation?
Is auto the only way to go?
Or should I use a manual setting? But, I probably won't have enough light to use a fast shutter.
Do I compensate with a higher ISO?
How do you get a more natural light from stage show lights?
Also, are there any tricks or techniques that will keep the lag time for the camera to focus to a minimum?
I would appreciate any tips.
Thank you!

DonickCo has a Sony V1, I'm sure he'll be able to help you out... also, when Photodave returns from vacation he should be able to help you out as well
