How to prep for room changes.

Okay, after flying home from WDW a few weeks ago we decided that based on our schedules we probably wouldn't go back until maybe spring break 2014 but then...schedules change and we just booked Boardwalk Villas for week of Christmas 2013 However, as we are DVC members we had to piecemeal the rooms during the week which is something we have NEVER done. I see that so many of you change rooms on your trips and really want to know what we need to prepare for. We are going from a 1 bedroom villa (Pool view) to a studio (Boardwalk view) to another studio (pool view). The change down in size does not bother us at all. What worries me is making sure everything gets to the new room properly each time. Any thoughts and suggestions are welcome!

Whenever we have changed places in the middle of a stay (often it is from Disney property to off property or vice versa) we find the key is organization. The way we do it is instead of each person getting a suitcase, each suitcase gets a certain type of contents. There are 4 of us so we bring 4 bags. All of our toiletries & shoes go in one bag, all of our pajamas & bathingsuit/cover up stuff go in another bag. Underclothes/socks/clothes in another. We bring one extra bag that starts out empty and is used for dirty laundry. As the cloths bag empties out and those clothes go into the dirty bag, we put souvenirs in with the clean clothes. OCD much?? Haha, but it does work for us.

I would never switch that much because I like as little work as possible. But if I did, I would never unpack.

I'd keep my toiletries in a hanging toiletry organizer (I like the LL Bean ones a lot) and put everything back in every day.

Outfits would be packed 1-per-garbage-bag. At the end of the day, the dirty clothes would be folded and go back into garbage bags. Reduces wrinkles in the clothes, too. The clean and dirty won't have to associate when they're all moved to the next place, either.

All wet/damp stuff would be hung in the bathroom, placed in its own bag while switching, and re-hung as soon as the next room was available.

I would shop very little and would not take things out of the bag when back in the room.

It will still be a pain, but keeping it organized will help.

On a different thread some folks were talking using packing cubes. I checked them out on Amazon and they look like they would be real helpful for your trip. I was thinking about trying them out. Good luck and have fun.
