Fellow photographers, how do you kick your photographic frustration?
I am just in a y mood today. I am sitting here editing some images and it's taking me to the boiling point. I used to shoot a lot of weddings, not so much anymore and while working on this latest one I came two major realizations.
1.) while technical skills and knowledge are paramount to great photography, at the end of the day photography is subject driven...
and to 2.)
if said subject is neither interesting nor beautiful, in our societies traditional definition of beauty, then your images just won't be strong.
I guess I never realized how lucky I was in the early stages of my career. I shot exclusively, by nothing but sheer chance, beautiful venues, professional catering and floral work, and beautiful brides and grooms. This wedding was located in an "economic" location, bad lighting, bad dress, bad suits, no floral work, grocery store cake... the list goes on and on and my work is terrible.
Beyond frustrated!
