I just found out today that my mom and i are comming to WDW maybe a friend-April 10-16 so, how can i get her on EE? Her reason for not wanting to go on it is that she hates the fact that there is no sholder restraints like RnRC. Is that what the restraints look like? i dont know. and she is wondering if there are handle bars that you can hold on during the ride? does anyone have pictures of the ride that it looks like? Thanks for the help! anyone going down when i am??

I think if she is OK on Big Thunder Mountain, then she won't have a problem with EE.

Over the shoulder restraints are for when you are looping over, which EE does not do.

The restraints are the same as Space Mountain, lap bars. That is more than adequate because there are no inversions on EE. She can grip the lap bar on either side of the padding that sits in her lap. She'll be fine!

RnRC has shoulder restraints because it has inversions [and goes faster than EE].

I am also trying to get my mom, dad, and sister to ride. I am still clueless...but maybe if i lie and say the speed was reduced to 10 mph...hmmm

You're best bet for getting somebody to ride Everest or anything else is to not pressure them, force them or any other way of stressing them out. Just let them ride when they feel comfortable and ready. Trust me.

It's like getting a shot: the more the doctor tells you it doesn't hurt, the more it does!

I don't like free fall type rides. Said I'd never get on one. But, some great advice I once got was "try everything at Disney once." Odds are the themeing and the overall experience will make it "worth it" enough to try at least once. I tried Tower of Terror once and, despite not caring so much for the drops, I'm willing to "put up with them" because of the theming and the awesome special effects.

So, ask -- don't pressure, but ask -- if she's willing to try it just once. If she doesn't like it, you won't make her try it again. Odds are she'll be amazed enough that she'll want to get back on. If not, at least she tried.

As for holding on, there are also plenty of places on the train for you to grab on to. And it is a fun ride. Keep in mind that imagineers wanted to make absolutely sure that this ride appealed to as many people as possible. Believe me when I say I saw 60 and 70 year olds on there having the time of their life on there the two days I rode.
