How to be Disney Productive when you can't sleep??

Hey there!!

This is my first thread as I just joined 2 minutes ago... It's because I can't sleep! There's 19 days before my trip with my boyfriend, best friend, and her boyfriend as well. We are 20 yrs old and traveling with no kids, and it's both of the guys' first time on a flight! (My boyfriends first time in Disney!)

Anyhow, I have to leave for class in 2.5 hours but I can't sleep because I'm so excited!! Any tips for what you do while your waiting anxiously for the day you leave? Day or night... I haven't made a packing list yet so I think I'll start now... P.s. We are only going to do one ADR... Where should we go? I know it's last minute but we didn't decide until now. Is it too late to make reservations? Hope everyone is having a great day / night! :)

Welcome! Could you provide a little more info on your trip.... offsite or onsite? driving or flying?
For your one ADR are you looking for a signature meal or standard table service meal?

I find that the more exercise I've gotten during the day, the better I sleep, so I go for a lot of long walks/jogs leading up to our Disney trip. (This also helps with my stamina when we're touring, so it's a win-win.) Also, the sooner your plans are made, the quicker you can relax about them. Why not peruse the menus and restaurant review in the dining section of wdwmagic and see what appeals to you all for an ADR? For a crowd of 20-year-olds, I'd suggest:

In the MK/on the monorail loop: Be Our Guest, 'Ohana
Epcot: The Biergarten, Tutto Italia, The Coral Reef
Downtown Disney (a/k/a Disney Springs): Raglan Road
HS, AK: meh

How many days are you there? What are your goals while there? Trying to see everything or only a couple of parks? It's going to be hot and humid when you go. Leave the long sleeves and jeans behind, unless you're planning a nice dinner. Most 20 year olds are on a budget so I don't think is the case but you tell us. Are you interested in night activities. Disney is very strict with serving alcohol to minors.

Thanks for so many replies!

We are open to either a signature or regular table service meal, just looking for any suggestions, really!

Sorry for the lackof info by the way, we are staying at all star sports for 6 nights and 7 days from May 19 to 25th.

We aren't really interested in nightlife or alcohol while we're there so that shouldn't be a problem here! :)

I think Ohana looks great, we might call about that one! My childhood favorite whenever we went with my parents was cosmic rays, so I'm sure we'll be saving enough on the 12 dollar meals there to splurge somewhere nice!! :) I think we're too late to do something like le Cellier but we're planning on doing rainforest cafe already (my favorite chain restaurant even not at disney) so I'd like to up a notch at least for our one "nice dinner". oh the reviews I have ahead of me to read... :)

I have been going to the gym 5 days a week to rid some of my disney energy...It does help at night! The iPhone is just always lurking with more information and pictures of other people having fun I just love seeing it!!! Reading the stories of people's entire trips on the board is so exciting and usually takes up most of my time on the boards, especially reading about people who have surprised their little ones! I was a child (6 yrs old) who got surprised with a box that my mom gave me about an hour after all the gifts were opened on christmas. She said she "forgot about one". I figured it was clothes but inside was a disney picture farm that said "pack your bags alyssa! We're going to disney world--TODAY!!" We packed up our bags and left for the airport right then! My mother and I had just left home from a divorce so it was an unforgettable experience together. I still have the frame sitting right on my desk with a picture from that first visit...I just LOVE seeing people have that experience from a parent's point of view!

Just a head's up, 'Ohana is a very difficult reservation to get, especially only a month out. Keep checking the dining web site and something might open up. But have a back up in case it doesn't...there are a lot of good places to dine!

Being that you are so close to traveling, I would get on the Disney site and see whats available. Probably not too much left at this point as most place book up 180 out. But I would say any signature is good (except Le Cellier, not bad food but wouldn't call it a signature restaurant and wayyyy overpriced)
Epcot - anywhere
MK - Be Our Guest, otherwise Quick Service
AK - Tusker House
HS - I like them all.

Concentrate on your finals :) and then do whatever. Since you are flying in to Orlando, make sure you get the Magic Express from the airport to your resort. I don't know what you need to do to book it (we live in Florida and drive) but it will save you time and hassles.

Raglan Road in Downtown Disney is one of our favorite places to go. We also like Be Our Guest (make that reservation NOW), Garden Grill in EPCOT and most of the country restaurants in World Showcase in EPCOT. Since you are going to be at WDW during a weekend in May (and it's Memorial Day, so expect crowds), you need to head over to Hollywood Studios for Star Wars Weekend. Check out the list of events during the weekend and get that FastPass+ for the Star Tours ride ASAP. Otherwise, just wander around (and if you love to shop, you gone to Disney shopping heaven) and enjoy your trip.

Oh, and wear COMFORTABLE walking shoes. You will walk about 10 miles a day (really) and you don't need to spoil your trip with sore feet. I wouldn't recommend flip flops - the parks will be full of strollers and scooters and people will run over you and not say sorry.

Definitely review menus on sites like Allears and if you do want TS meals, I'd dig around on the Disney website to see what's available during your dates and book if you see something good open up. Since it's down to the wire, I'd leave your search range for specific meals. ex. if you're looking for a dinner on May 15th...I'd just search dinner and see what comes up with openings. I also wouldn't look just once. People drop things all the time...especially as you get close to your travel dates...so it's worth checking quite frequently, especially for something super popular like 'Ohana.
