How to add DDP?

We are going in Feb. with family who are passholders who want the dining plan. Is it possible to add the Deluxe DDP to a room only reservation? I thought passholders could do this without buying tickets but the reservation system does not even give me the option of purchasing the DDP without adding on tickets to make it a package. I tried to do it through the passholder section of the website and couldn't figure that out either. Do we need to call to do that or can it not be done? :veryconfu

I'm in the same situation (except I'm the passholder, and my sister is you). I was looking for similar information (we were thinking of getting a room on-property for part of their trip so we could use EMH). I ended up in a chat with a Disney reservation person, and she told me that I would have to buy at least a one day one park ticket in order to get the dining plan.

Not saying she was right and Yoda was wrong, just telling you what I was told. It would definitely be worth your while to call. And if you don't get the answer you want the first time, I might even suggest you call again...

If you have an AP you can get the dining plan added on providing that you have a room only at rack rate or an AP rate. I have run into situations where non-AP discounted rooms (general public, Fl resident, etc) had to buy tickets to get the DDP.

Ah that might make a difference then. We are planning to book with the general public discount since they are so good that way we guarantee we will get what we want as far as rooms rather than waiting for the AP discounts to come out. I am a passholder too but we always use TIW so I am not familar with all the rules for adding the DDP which is what the family we are going with (also passholders) want to do. I was just trying to find the easy answer but is looks like there isn't one so I will tell them to call to find out. Thanks again to both of you.

Unfortunately that is all you can do. What you will want to do is keep an eye out for AP room rates and if you can get one you can add the DDP at that time.

That's probably what happened to me. AP rates for the period in question are not out yet, evidently they were assuming I'd get a FL-resident rate. I was asking about booking now and adding the AP discount later if and when one materializes. Odd, thought, that she didn't tell me that if there was an AP rate I'd end up being eligible for the DP...
